Alright, so I searched, and did not find anything quite what I am looking for. I have a set of the Arias 8.8 pistons, and they include a sort of 'gapless' lock ring for the wrist pins, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to install them. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to get them in tomorrow, so if you know, please let me know.

I have found a special tool, but do not have time to get it, anyone? What about returning to a standard lock ring?

you don't need a special tool... just pull one end apart and begin to thread it into the retainer groove. (kinda like putting a key on a key ring) then just spin the ring around until it screws itself into the groove. Your fingers will hurt like a mofo after your done with all 8 of them... but they WONT come out by themselves.

Thanks MAXX, I thought about that, but I was worried about bending it out and causing it to want to break. But I guess that is what the tool does, is this how you did it? What is the advantage, and can they be swapped for reg rings?

I have done this method 2 times already without any problems. The rings are really strong so they don't bend out of shape very easy. I have never used the tool... just ****ed up my fingers on my own.

As for the reg rings.... I won't use them anymore after reading the tophat motor thread in which the snap rings for the supertech pistons actually came out of the wristpin and ate up the cylinder walls/pistons.

Stock pistons use snap rings, and it isn't a problem, I think there is more to it with that case.

oh yeah could be. I just trust the Arias rings more than the snap rings. Just my preference.

Yes, but I spent an hour today trying to get one in, I get worried about scratching the piston, but it is on the skirt, so I guess it is no big deal.
