Max RPMs 8500

Yeah, I know a stock car racer who revs his VH41DE with forged pistons to 9000rpm, granted the difference in stroke may affect it, but I doubt these rods are worth that kind of money.

These rods are nice and thick up around the neck of the little end, and they do look strong... but I think a large part of the cost comes from these being a custom set of rods.

Is it possible to get offset bearings made up? Enabling us to use an aftermarket conrod with very close specs, and the bearing adjusting the position to make it work?

I'm sure thats the ebay seller's crappy advertisement of RPM rating for those rods.

Yeah I honestly thought they were a bit expensive aswell, however compared to my VG30DETT Pauter rods which cost around $1450 AUD delivered for 6, 8 custom argo rods for the VH for $1800ish AUD doesnt seem that bad but still more than I woul like to pay and not really needed I dont think.

Someone should be working on a set of low comp custom pistons for the VH rather than rods. I think factory cryo treated and shot peened rods will be sufficient for moderate power levels, its the pistons that will be the main problem I think.

Do any of you guys have some nice specs for the ideal pistons for the VH45. We have a great company out here in Australia called ACL who make great forged pistons and whom also do custom runs. I could make some enquiries and see if its viable to pursue or not.

Food for thought

there are ENDLESS possibilities, being that the VH rod journals are between 2" and 2.1" in diameter, there are a myriad of rods from different motors that will work. The only problem you're going to run into is finding the right piston that will work. There aren't alot of engines with around a 3.66" bore that have forged pistons available for them. The closest I've been able to find for a forged piston for the VH are the 3.7" bore Diamond 4.6/5.4 ford "big bore" pistons, but they run 600 bucks a set, and then you have to find some 5.8" rods to use in the VH, which won't be cheap.

Check out my most recent post, "defrag010 checking in" and you will see a recent combination that I found and put a shortblock together with, except it doesn't have forged pistons.....
