So I was prepping everything to put my new cams in, set it to TDC, marked the chain links, loosened the cam sprocket bolts, and as I was taking the bolt out of the exhaust cam the washer behind it decided to play pinball all the way down my motor! Great!!!!

So I shined a flashlight down there and my guess is either it's at the bottom of the timing chain or better yet sitting inside the oil pan?

What are my options? Pull the water pump and timing cover or pull the pan hoping it is in there?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

ouch. well try this.take off your front cover (this would be a good time to take your upper chain guides off too!) get a LONG extendable strong magnet and stick it down there, and hope maybe its near by. if you cant get it, pull the pan. good luck, hope the first method works for you.

So after looking at some engine diagrams and guesstimating the course the washer took I ran out to my parents house today where my car is and ran a magnet rod down there. I followed it down until it reached the bottom and hoping for the best when I pulled it back up, out came the washer!!!!

Thank goodness. Now I can finish my project.

Thanks for your help!
