What could cause gas to get in the oil, assuming that the motor has flawless compression?

Lotsa idling.cold weather startingshort trips that leave ECU in start-up mode.

its completely normal to have some fuel dilution, even in the best of engines, the only way to preclude it, is nearly 100% hiway driving.

Take your car out once per week at 80-90 mph for a few minutes to lower fuel (and water) dilution in your oil.

Plus you should take it 80-90 cuz it's so damn fun! :)

But yeah like Fred said, it's normal... excessive gas might be a problem, but a little bit is normal.
