my 1 cent since i am too cheap to go get a 10$ gasket.
Tried that and it never worked since mine was contaminated with the tar-oily substance. The freezer never made a difference.
Food for thought, it is this gasket that keeps the gas from coming out of your tank when you fill up. If the gasket is faulty, regardless of how tight you have the screws down...you risk gas escaping. Don't ask me how I know.
