so i go outside to turn my car on because it has to sit for a while due to licence problems, and (knowing it was going to happen soon) the starter took a sh1t on me so now i need a new one. SpeedLab ordered me a SR but i have no idea when that will be here so i am gunna buy a starter... anyone know what the price would be for one.... 1995 240sx. i was gunna call around tomarrow, but i figured i could just find out now so i can know ahead of time how much i am out. :(

thanx for ya help guys :)

I just had to replace my starter a few weeks ago. At Autozone I was able to get a starter for $125, that's including turning in my old starter to them. Otherwise I think it was going to be an extra 40 bucks or something.

I did it myself, it's really not that bad of a job except for the fact that the starter is a total pain in the freaking *** to get to. The top bolt is located above the transmission bellhousing (on an S13 that is) and definately would require an angle ratchet, which I didn't have at the time.

However, it's definately worth the hour's worth of labor time you'll pay at a mechanic to do it yourself.
