Guys,

I've seen several posts here and at other pathy/Qx4 forums about this quirky issue, but have yet to see a solution.

I bought my 01 QX4 2 years ago with 59K miles... runs perfect in every way, but noticed the issues below during my first winter and this winter I'm seeing the exact same behavior.

In summer all four of my power windows go up and down in what seems like a "normal" fashion... hit the switch and maybe 4 seconds the window is completely in the full open position. Hit the window switch again and in 4 seconds the window is fully back up in the closed position.

In Winter here in North Carolina when temperatures are below 55 degrees the windows start to noticeably slow down.. it get's so bad that in 35-40 degree weather (which ain't very cold) the windows can take 10+ seconds to fully retract... The window starts off slower and when the window have about 6 inches left to go it literally slows down to a crawl and the last 6 inches takes at least 4-5 full seconds to complete the opening.

This symptom is present on ALL windows, but is a bit worse on the front door windows.

Please, someone must a have a clue on this, right?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mine is the same, but the rear passenger side, literally takes 20 seconds

Only thing I found to help (only did the fronts) cause mine are exactly like you state, was I took the door panel off, and sprayed silicone lube (no residue) on the slides, windows worked NORMAL for about 3 months... now in february, they suck again

I do think its the motors getting weak though, because as soon as there is ANY below zero weather, it doesnt have enough power to break them free at all and they just wont go down with out some smacking

I wonder if anyone has tried replacing the motors? It just doesn't' make sense to me though that it's the motors... think about it... My rear windows RARELY get used, yet they suffer from the exact same symptom. If this was an issue of the motors wearing out, then why wouldn't the rear windows perform "as new".

silicone spray inside the window jams as you move the window up and down. works great.

I'm not clear on what you're referring to as the Window Jam? Can you be more specific about where you are squirting the silicone spray?

Thanks!

this link explains it well with pictures of where to spray on page 2. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showtopic=3640 I usually apply every couple months to keep the windows sliding nicely

I have 115,000 miles on my '01 QX4. I also live in Denver where the weather can drop below 0 degrees. Even in below freezing temperatures my windows work pretty well. This is only after I sprayed all the window sills with (Silicone Spray). I then took each door panel off and sprayed all the regulator cables with (White Lithium Grease). I did this by rolling the windows up and down while spraying the cables. This exposed all the dry spots on the cables. It's pretty self explanatory once you get the door panels off and see what you are working with. This will definently help with your window issues.
