Are Z's any good?

Well Im 17 and I currently drive a Mustang GT 2003. I was looking in to getting a 350Z. The only reason I'm thinking about purchasing one is because I raced one on the track and owned me by 1/2 a car! So give me some advice on what's the best 350z year. Sorry FORD I'm turning .

Well give me some tips and how your Zs are. I want to know everything about them from actual owners!

350z's are definately better than Mustangs. 03's-04's have minor alignment and window motor problems. 05-06's have the 300hp step up motor, but not really to many problems. The 07+ have the 306 hp VQ35HR which has some better internals and twin throttle bodies. The 07 's have a transmission issue on some of them and have a TSB for the slave cylander. Most problems are minor it just depends on how much you want to spend and how many miles you want on it. Being 17 you probably want an 03-04.

hey but do the Zs have good acceleration as in take off or are they slow and then pick up speed? My GT is really well liked at school and my gf loves it and we bring her friends but the Z is a two seater but hey its not what she wants!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you're driving a Cobra at the very least, I wouldn't compare a mustang to a 350Z. How many mustangs do you see on the road vs. 350Z's? A ton more. The Z is a very nice "true" sports car, being that it's a 2 seater, at an affordable price. I guess I think of it as -look at a Maxima...that's a nice luxury car. A 350Z is Nissan's top of the line car.

AS with most Mustangs they are slow at the start. They took a lot of time in designing the 350z. It is smoother and a lot better than a gt mustang. I've driven a 03 Gt Mustang and know the difference.

Yeah 350Z is a great car and I admit they are way better than a mustang. And I just talked to my dad and we are going to go looking for a 350z this weekend. Man I have to hand it to Nissan man they have been building great machines. My dad owned a 280zx and he feel in love with that car and still has it today. So what Im trying to say is man I cant wait to be a Z owner.

Well you two seater issue is bogus for her because I have never had a problem paying a couple of strippers and fitting both of them in the car, purses fit right in the hatchback, PERFECT!!. Now as far as acceleration it all depends how you rev and get out of the clutch. Sometimes it feels awfully good but probably because I hit the pressure, the clutch and the gas all at the right time. Now from the 50mph to 100mph I have actually reved clean out of second and was only a half car length behind a 05 Vette. But I hit the gears good that time, if you miss just a little you know, trust me. Man get what you want I get so many compliments especially from 30 -40 year old women there must be something about the look that they like. Good luck let us know what you end up doing either way and welcome the forum. :Oh and just for your extra knowledge when I bought my Z that day, I had just finished test driving a Porsche Cayman S. Forget about it the Z was a hell of alot more comfortable and racy and a whole let less noisy, shame on Porsche for the poor cab noise. In fact I blew some idiot in a Boxster clean out of his draws the other day and I know he was wondering what was under my hood. All it is t is , is 324 bhp moving a very light car.bigthumb

Hey good luck with your Z. I have an 06 manual and its awsome! I got it about a month before my 17th birth day and its such a cool car. As far as school goes it turns everyones heads regardless of where i am, everyone things its pretty cool. Also aside from how fast it looks when its standing still it is a really really fast car it. I have never lost a race to anyone but a Z06 and really it wasnt by much im not sure how well of a driver the guy was, he might have been kinda off but im great at drivin my car and it really can smash the competion. I agree with blacksmoke in that black and orange look really cool, i also like red and if you get an 07 i would look at solar orange because it deffinatly gets peoples attention. O and your gf will deffinatly love it trust me.

I used to have a 02 roush stage two mustang, and ended up gettting rid of it for a z. That was one of the best things i ever did. The way the z responded to inputs and reacts is amazing. The z defiantely better than a mustang.

Im thinking about getting it orange or black maybe red. And my gf is still being a ***** about it, she wants extra seats so her friends can fit. But I test drove a Z an 1hr ago and it felt like sex but with a car. The handling was amazing and it was a 6sp manual but it was silver
