25 of 33.
I missed one or two that in hindsight, I probably should have gotten, but I probably benefitted from a lucky guess on one or two as well. History was never my strong suit.

Of the 2,508 People surveyed, 164 say they have held an elected government office at least once in their life. Their average score on the civic literacy test is 44%, compared to 49% for those who have not held an elected office. Officeholders are less likely than other respondents to correctly answer 29 of the 33 test questions.
Don't you wish all those with political aspirations were this good? :mike

See you at the polls in a couple of years you scumbag politicians.

I do not like the way a couple of the questions were phrased.

Yup. Blasted through and got 24 right. Missed a few I definitely should have gotten. Oh well.

Got two wrong: didn't know where "Government of the people, for the people, and by the people" came from, and picked the wrong of two right answers: Roosevelt proposed legislation to add six new justices... but he also mused about the elimination of the court.

It's okay. My Massachusetts public education balanced yours out. Which two did you miss?

So do most elected officials, get involved. At least you seem to see that as something to be concerned about it which is a 100% improvement over them.

I can't even sponsor my own! Luckily my company has a TA program of I would be scratching for every scholarship I qualified for which is not a lot.

Sounds typical. You have your best interests in mind, though; you'll be good to go soon enough. Maybe you will get to prosecute them someday.

It's always humbling to know that you are surrounded by people MUCH smarter than you are. :)

I redeemed myself today. I took the test to qualify for Nursing school and scored a 93.37% cumulative. I also checked into taking a Civics class next semester to fulfill the necessary Humanities credit. I will learn my history, I promise. Actually, I did really good on the History part. It was mostly the policy questions that I bombed.

I think a lot of the NICO population is genuinely smart, but you've got to remember that if someone bombed this test, they're probably not going to be posting their results haha.

Congrats on the Nursing test!!

Not bad. I should've gotten higher though. Some of the answers I changed ended up being right.

I missed the exact same two questions. I knew the Gettysburg address but thought that Lincoln grabbed the term from a previous document and, like you, knew that Roosevelt had mused about getting rid of the Supreme Court so I thought that was the answer.

Good to see that great minds think alike! :dblthumb:

Yeah thanks for calling me out haha. I think the hardest part were the Civics questions. Like I said, I really suck at political stuff.

I did score higher than average though so Im satisfied :bigfu:

I think it says more about the quality of the people here than it does about being smart. The nature of our discussions and the fact that others will call you out forces us to research and attempt to post from a position of having some knowledge. That's one of the main reasons we can disagree without the thread deteriorating into the silly name-calling that so many other forums are.

Not bad for a former sports med student and now engineering. Who cares about civics anyways? I just have to worry about them when playing Civ 4.

And that the quality of public schools shouldn't be cast into doubt in comparison to private! ;)
