I was talking with a friend about what he wants to do to his WRX, and he said he wanted some TE-37'skid- I can get them for $850me-um no, those are the peice of crap cheap oneskid-well that's what it says(points to ad in SCC)me-trust me, those are for like ADR's and knock off'sme-what size do you want?kid-like some 17x8me-You do know that TE-37's are about $500 each in that size.kid-no, that's not what it says.me-and besides you could get SSR Type-C's for less and they weigh less.

This is where it gets good.kid-yeah but I don't want lighter rims, cuz I don't wanna have no traction. me-(dumbfounded look) ummm, it's not like you're gonna fly up in the air doing wheelies every time you hit the gas.kid-yeah but, youme-no! WRX's weigh about 3200lbs and if you take off about 20 lbs due to lighter rims, you won't have any loss of traction problems

thankfully the bell rang then and I left, cuz I was about to own the kid, but I didn't wanna piss him off

Man, some of the info out there nowadays......

hehe I know how you feel... don't worry, there is stuff like that everywhere, keep working hard and saving $, and be glad you actually know more ****, and learn how to drive ... when it comes down to it, it's not the car, it's the driver (not always true, but seems like an inspirational thing to say)...

Don't feel bad. You're definitely in the majority. My first car was a powder blue Ford Tempo. I had to floor it to climb a hill and gain any speed. Almost everyone had something of a beater for a first (or even second) car.

IMO, something like a WRX is waaaaaaay too much car to start out with. Get some driving experience in the Cavalier, and you'll be less likely to mess your next (nicer) car up.

BTW, I had the Tempo for 10 years, until I bought my 240SX last October. Unfortunately, the Tempo's engine was running strong while every other system had deteriorated to the point where I think the car was held together by magic and regular sacrifices to the Automotive Gods. Finally, mercifully, the transmission gave out.

me 2. its much worse at my school tho. ive seen 2 kids with WRX's so far.... i kno theres more. one is brand new the other is a year old. then we have the 3 series BMW's, cameros, mustangs, and my sophmore friend has a N/A supra with a full body kit and wing that his parents bought him. but he if he doesnt want to take the supra out he might as well take out his/his mom's H2 with 3 LCD screens PS2 and W6 sub that hits hard. whatever floats his boat

I would kill for a Tempo. Figuratively speaking of course. Everywhere I go in that thing I get the weirdest looks from people. I guess they think I'm a big flaming homosexual. (no offense to anybody)

I've been working my *** off saving money to get my S13, but every time I get money, I blow most of not all on CD's. I need help on that stuff.

The worst part about all this is, I know more about cars I don't even like than they know about the cars they dream about all day. They are literally in awe of my knowledge.

Ok I'm done *****ing for today

The Tempo was more like a car that my elderly grandmother would drive, if she knew how to drive.

Do you have any pictures of the Pink Cavalier? You could always just go after it with a few cans of spray paint, or (Better Idea) get one of those crappy Maaco paint jobs. You'd probably feel a little better when your car isn't pink.

You could make a trip to Pep Boys and get some F&F stuff...Pink Cavalier with a BIG APC sticker and a fart can would rock! :ylsuper

I really can't talk, my nearly 10k$ car was free to me... oh well. There's a WRX in my HS parking lot too, and another kid will be getting one when he gets his license (he's serious, I know how loaded he is). An N/A Supra is meeting a horrible fate... There's also a Porsche 914, a 944 (though they're old enough that they were probably okay-priced, but the insurance, ouch). A red BMW that some guys sister got when she got her license, and somehow kept out of wrecks (sorry guys, its auto), that is now her brother's. A few brand-new-when-the-kid-got-them Firebirds and Camaros (some V8s) a few totally rebuilt classic Mustangs, the list goes on. People get crazy cars, some more crazy than others, its a fact of life, too bad many of them see horrible fates. Example, the aforementioned Supra. It now has a 5in-ish fart can and some chromey rims, I think he's getting a body kit next. :(

oh this kid with the supra in my neighborhood got the supra with the kit already on it. i think it may have been a show car or sumthin. so far he put a N1 exhaust and K&N intake filter on. he says he wants to turbo it but i kno he wont do that for awhile if he does. i dont think he knows much about cars either (sure hes prolly researched the basics like what exhaust and intake do but hed have no idea whats going on if u took the valve cover off) cuz his friend with a Teg LS bought a "chip" of ebay for $15 or sumthin. all it was was a little resistor that he coulda gottin from the school for free. but oh well, its his money

one kid at my school had a mint classic pontiac LeMans Sport (Basically a GTO, same body, same motor, everything). And BMW's, Mercades, jags etc were pretty common. Then it was pretty much regular cars...

how about, who cares? I mean seriously. Why does it matter if someone gets a cool car in highschool? That would be really nice if I got a car like that. If I ended up not liking the car, then I would definately sell it and get something that interests me more. Especially if you became friends with that person and could teach them a little bit about their car. If they become arrogant when you talk with them, well then you can say f*** it!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the brand new red Z3 3.0 with the sport package that rolled in last year, though that one is a stick... driven by a guy though... One punk says he's getting a 350Z, and I'm not totally sure he's BSing, cause I know he's loaded too. A few Lexus, a Jag or two, another Supra that already has a kit, though the only people I've talked to about it don't even know if its turbo or not, but judging from the fart can and rims accompanying the kit, I doubt it is turbo (no, I haven't been close enough to hear it spool, never actually seen it being driven at all). A couple of old Z's, which is a yay! but one is auto and driven by a chick, the other is driven only occasionally by a total jack***. And of course the usual group of new and old Hondas, one guy who just got rid of his Accord Wagon for a 'lude was driving his dad's sky blue Mercedes SLK for a little while, and while I'm not a fan of Mercedes, this car was clean and the colour rocked! Now he's going to rice the Prelude... a couple of Eclipses, but no turbo ones at my school, though at a nearby school there's a GS-T Spyder, as well as a coupe GS-T with a few mods (he just lost his license, something like 125mph...) and the owner knows some stuff, and there's a handful of turbo Talons around the area, including at my HS. One S13 240, riced... no S14s in the lot, maybe one in the area and another S13 or two. Lots of Sentras, but only one or two with 5speed and none like mine, though maybe 1 SE-R, but its riced if it is, so I reign king.edit: Tinted, there's a difference between getting a nice car and being totally spoiled, most of the examples in here are those of people who are truly spoiled. Many of these cars aren't kept up well and even more have/will end up in wrecks (one girl who graduated last year had a nearly new Explorer and wrecked it (including fender-benders) 18 times, depreciating the value to the point of like 2000$, she then recieved a brand new RSX, though not a Type-S, and managed to get it in a fender bender within the year).

Parents who buy high performance vehicles as first cars for their kids must be trying to get rid of them. It's even worse when the driver totals the car, then gets another (possibly even faster) car. Maybe they figure it's less mouths to feed when their son/daughter wraps the Evo around a tree. :rolleyes

Seriously, that's some really irresponsible parenting.

I think I'll give my kids a nice car when the get older if I can afford too, their first car will suck as all first cars should but for graduation they will get something nice. However, if they wreck it they get the same deal I did...they have to buy the next car.

I've got a digi cam, but I don't know how to load pictures, and moms won't let me paint it, sell it, or do anything like that. I could mod it, but there's a Cav at my school with a big wing, clear tails, rims, and of course, stock exhaust, and I want to have no relation at all to somebody like that
