So my dad (65yrs old) goes to dealer to have a new battery put in his Q45...

Service manager comes in and say's "we have a small problem.."

While installing the new battery the pasenger sider rear airbag deployed... " it will cost about $1800 to fix it"

I told my dad no way he should pay to fix this... what do you guys think? anyone ever hear of this happening?

Holy crap.

Sounds like a call to Infiniti Corporate is in order (see other thread titled, "No More Total Ownership Experience?".

I think that's the one anyway...

How the hell does that happen during a battery replacement? My mother can replace a battery, and she doesnt even remember to change her oil.

Yikes, I installed a new battery in a customer's droolworthy clean I30 the other day(infiniti are rare in my town) and luckily, no airbag deployment.

If I remember right, per the 1st gen Q FSM, you're supposed to disconnect the battery when working on the car to prevent that exact thing from happening. Sounds like someone has a boat payment due.

if that happened chances are there was a problem with the system anyways because that's certainly abnormal. Whats even more abnormal is the fact that they asked you to pay for it?? Any dealer that is not competent enough to even change a battery should not be working on cars. PERIOD
