My neighbor asks if we’ve gotten a ticket yet with our ‘11 G37 black Coupe? Now, the mailman is asking. We’re well aware these cars are not your every day basic transportation ……… Have you had ticket-trouble? Were you really guilty, or the victim of profiling? .... So, what’s your experience?

nope. But there is a stigma of sports cars getting "profiled". A friend of mine just bought a 'vette and has got pulled over 4 times in less than 2 months! Granted, some were his fault, but they're more inclined to pull over a sports car over a family-type car.

Reminds me of a story with my first Japanese sports car...a 3000GT VR4. I used to pick up my wife in front of her building when I was stationed in ND. I had a family sedan car...a Buick skylark and never had any problems with the parking meter cop. It was a loading/unloading zone only, but I would just park and keep the engine running to wait for her to come down. Well, the very first time I tried that with my 3000GT, the cop immediately came over and told me to move. It sucked having to circle the block...but it made me laugh ;)

I took my daughter to her friend's house one night and I jumped in the Grand Am instead of my black WS-6 with a cut-out. Cop let me go. I doubt he would have let me go if I had been in the TA.

Get a 10+ year old import 2 door and modify it at all, then you'll get targeted.

Ya we're all speeding, i'm out front, and get pulled over. Even when we all passed the cop at the same time. Bogus. Only because those people were in Sedans.

Yes, you will get targeted in this car. Get a Radar Detector, if you like to drive above the posted speed limits. I get mixed feelings. Cops look, but as long as I'm driving properly, nothing comes of it.

I think its all based on how you look. If you look 'society normal' no one messes with you. If your driver seat is in the back seat with your hat kicked sideways and can't see over the steering wheel, yes you will be pulled over.

I was ticketed twice within' 3 months of having the car. Both times were speeding, and my fault. Invested in a Radar Detector considering I have atleast 10 points on my licenses from previous speeding/tint tickets over the last 5 years.

besides being lighter, faster and better looking THIS is another reason to buy a G35/37 SEDAN

Crusing on I-10 at dusk, guy next to me is on his phone and drifting into my lane, semi in front of me so I can't get away from him. Speed limit is 65 mph we are all traveling 70-75 mph. The outside lane is open so I signal over and nail it to pass the semi, about the time I got around the semi I shifted into 4th so at least 105 mph. Then I coasted back down to 75mph. Couple seconds later woop woop and lights. Police officer pulls up next to me and says nice car slow down. In your coupe you would be in jail.

Generally, police officers are car buffs so notice sports cars.

Sort of goes like this as you drive past the officer:

Look at that cool G, what a great car. :)
Whoa, how fast is that dude going?
Sound of siren. :nono:

Perhaps an FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) sticker in the back window would limit the stop to a "warning".

^According to the retired lieutenant next door, the FOP sticker means squat to them.

Have not had a ticket in 30 years. Probably came close today. Was on cruise on I95 in downtown Richmond, about 62mph in a 55. Came up on a car in the left lane doing about 57. Moved to the clear center lane still on cruise. As I came up on the next car in center, the slow guy accelerates and blocks me in. Still on cruise, I move back behind him. He slows back to 57 and I tailgated him a bit. He finally moves right to take an exit. I glance in my rear view and there's a silver Impala so close I can't see his bumper. Move right, and he goes by, a silver haired fellow like myself. About a quarter mile later he slams it right and takes an exit, blipping the blue lights on the back of the car as he does so.

I imagine a 25 year old would have gotten pulled over.

coupe yes, sedan no.

But if you did not do anything wrong he will let you go anyways. If you did well no one else to blame. LOL

At the end he is doing his job. Sometimes and some go overbored but hey no one is perfect.

Okay, I hate to have to go against my own brand right now, but this thread is getting a little ridiculous…

When people and law enforcement officers mention vehicle 'profiling' they are not referring to Infiniti vehicles. Not in the least bit. Infiniti vehicles, as sporty as you may all think they are, are not what officers are speaking of when they mention profiling. They are talking of true sport vehicles: Lamborghinis, Ferarris, and, more commonly, Porsches, Corvettes, the Nissan GT-R, Lexus IS-F, etc. etc. The Infiniti G37 is not being profiled by your common police officer, you're just not obeying the law and were pulled over.

Again its the modified ones that are bing profiled. If you've changed the appearance of you car quite a lot, then they are looking.

Perhaps, an appropriate police-sticker, like FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) in the back window would limit the stop to a warning.

yep one of the reasons i like driving the "faster" sedan lol, my car just looks like a semi-sporty sedan. Must dont even realize whats under the hood. I guess thats probably why when i'm crusing on the highway 10-15 miles OVER the speed limit people STILL will try to pass me. I guess the G sedan is not intimidating... depending on my mood ill put the car trying to pass me to shame.

But police wise i get a lot of looks, but i think its a combination of me being young, a minority, and in a nice car. I have been pulled over with no ticket the most ever since buying my first Infiniti in 2008. I always get the dumb a** question "Is this your car?" from the officer... I mean he just ran my plates, look at my lisense, registation, and insurance. They all have the same name... smh but the officer still asks that question. I take this as either this is a standard question, dumb officer, or ***hole officer. I lean more towards dumb ***hole officers. Then to top it off i wasnt doing nothing illegal so they let me go with no ticket LOL. profiling at its best.

sorry for the rant...

You're entitled. Damn shame it still happens. I'm an old white guy, and they let me go any number of times in my youth when I deserved the ticket or even the trip downtown. I didn't understand until later that there were people of other ethnicities who were getting the opposite treatment.

K...next time a cop asks you if it is your car, say "no, I stole it from some bigot"

Y'all need to learn to cry. ;) No really, I have never cried my way out of a ticket. When I got pulled over like I mentioned before, the cop asked me if I knew why he pulled me over and I just said "yes sir, I was speeding". He let me go. Didn't even check my license. I guess he was just shocked that I didn't try to make some kind of excuse.

Crying only works, if the boobs are exposed slightly at the same time. And not hairy ones.

Never a ticket in the G yet. But having a built in Radar detector has helped tremendously. The drive from Chicago to Carlisle, PA saved my butt many of times.

Ok....it's not the car.

I live in a small town called Piperton right outside of Memphis. Ask anybody in the area, Piperton is famous for it's speed traps and Buford T Justice type officers. I was toodeling along this morning and my radar detector went off. Looked up and he was sitting there in his favorite spot. I looked down and I was going over 55 in a 40. My heart sank. He POINTED at me....just pointed!! Couldn't believe it. At first I thought he was telling me to pull over, but I kept checking my mirror and he never moved.

:ohno:

Got to Sonic and they gave me my tea free today. Called hubby and told him I was heading to the casino instead of work. :naughty:

Sometimes it's the tags. My little town of Ashland was notorious for radar two police chiefs ago. You get off I95, limit goes from 45 to 35 on a eight lane wide stretch, then from 35 to 25 just after you cross Rt.1 into the town proper. But it seemed like everyone I ever saw pulled over was from NJ or Fla.

Wished that in the NC mtns they'd pull over every FL plate for going too slow.
