I might be picking up a set of Tomei Procam and Springs on my quest for 9krpms, just need to know if I have to send the head out to be machined to fit these cams or do they just drop in?

Nope. The lobes will hit the head. The head needs to be machined and you need to buy solid lifters and shims.

Poncam are the only Tomei drop in cams. IIRC 256 and 264? Someone correct me on that if necessary. The Procams are usually sold in a kit with solid lifters, shims, and occassionaly I have seen them bundled with cam gears/sprockets and valve springs. The Procam system needs a lot of work to install, but I hear that it is a total solution and is very reliable if properly assemebled.

IIRC user CA19DET has Poncams in his.

Nada, solid lifters and head machining is a must. I would think springs would be nessicary, and I would reccommend lightweight retainers as well.
