Thanks....generally, I try to buy cars toward the end of the month, and won't even consider making a deal until 2 or 3 dealerships tell me that there is no way they can beat or match my best deal. Also, remember that you want to negotiate up from the invoice price, not down from the sticker price. In Southern California, I found one dealer at $1,000 over invoice, several at $500 over invoice, one at $200 over invoice...and eventually somehow ended up at $40 under invoice. Actual dealer profit is hard to calculate...there may incentives for selling a certain number of cars in a given month, a certain type of car, etc. I would think that this is a great time to negotiate on the 2006 M's, because the 2007 should be delivered in July, and dealers are probably interested in clearing their inventory. I would not recommend working through car brokers either...their services will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 to $25 per month on a lease....if not more, and I would bet you can do better yourself...just keep pushing, and don't "fall in love" with a certain car....the better you are at walking away from a "deal", the better your final deal will be!
