Picked up a stereo and temp gauge from the 1991 Q45A at the junkyard today, I have a 1990 Q45 non-active. Will the stereo work? It looks different... but seems to have the same functions. Probably a stupid question.

The unit if your hand looks like a 94-96 unit. I can't say "for sure" if they're interchangeable or not, but I think the basic function (Radio/Tape) should work. Best thing to do is give it a shot.

Ok thanks. I pulled it out of a 91 Q45, don't know if it works yet. It's a temp solution until I can get a decent stereo in there. My current one has a bad volume control and that's all. I will try it when I get my battery charged.

I got the temperature control to fix a unit that doesn't display, then I see a thread on here about a fix for that problem. Doh.

That is a 1994-1996 Q45 head unit unless that same exact radio was OEM on any other Nissan or Infiniti too. But if you have the dealer installed 10 Disk Sony CD changer with a remote in the center console the CD changer will not connect to the radio.

Other than the above it will work the same but look out of place or differn't. I say that because thats more of a 1994-1996 Q45 style (HVAC controls match up to it perfectly).

I think the dealer installed Clarion 6 disk CD changer MAY? work with that radio.

I do not have a disc changer installed. What was it doing in a 91? It looks funny to me but I don't think it looks entirely out of place. It hooked up fine but my car is dead as hell so I haven't juiced it up yet to see how it works. The HVAC unit I pulled out of the same car is the same style in my 90. Maybe the person who had that car swapped it then, if that isn't a 91 unit. Weird... Thanks

Juiced the car up, it works fine, so does my new temp controller!

Congrats on your good luck with the climate controller!

Your radio is originally out of a 1994 Q45. 90-93 look the same. Then they changed to this style with the curved face in 1994 (same for the 1994 climate controller). Then they changed to a flat face with a dull finish for 1995 and 1996, probably due to glare complaints.
