Hey dudes and dudettes, on the final stages before dropping the engine in, just need to know if these 3 are heater hose ports, so I can plug them if so.

Thanks for your help! :bigthumb:

Far left (silver sort of color) is the heater return
Middle (gold-is color) is the PCV hose that connects the block to the head. There should be another barbed connector coming out of the valve cover, right above that. It NEEDS to be connected to the valve cover.
Right side, coming out of the block is the heater out

whatever he says...lol. I have a question, why do you use the red silicone? Unfortunately, not all silicone products work on all applications. I've seen a few others as well and they are all leaking oil from the strangest places.

It's actually what Nissan sends with their OEM gasket kit specifically to seal the pan, I think a lot of the error in it is when people tighten the pan down before letting the silicone dry. I lay a think later down, snug the bolts down and let it sit, after about 2 days I go back and actually tighten it down. In regards to it on the intake manifold, we used it to help seal the butterfly holes. Just added protection to leaks if our plugs don't seal 100%

Wow, I didn't know that. And that's probably because I don't buy anything from Nissan that requires the need for silicone from them. Do what works for you man, I just was curious about the use of the red silicone because I never use it.

Do they make an oilpan gasket?

They do make an oil pan gasket, but not for the CA DOHC engines. Are you using the lip gaskets that you place on the oil pump and the rear main oil seal housing? Or are using silicone to attempt to seal those areas as well?

The main areas are actual gaskets.

Dee, what type of silicone do you use for the oil pan then? pretty sure im using that red/orange stuff too. I deff did it wrong cause it leaked from week 1 of the rebuild, not a big deal just messy.

I use Permatex Ultra Grey. That's all I've used since 2000. I've had failures with the other flavors.

I use the same thing for the same reasons.
