Anybody making getting any great deals on new G37's ???If so, what did you get?

Also, how would you feel about the front of your engine being opened???Do you think there will be long term effects???Would you get rid of it BEFORE the bumper to bumper is up??Or, would you get rid of it BEFORE the powertrain is up?

Wife is getting a little upset with how long the car has been in the shop, so we we've been looking. She test drove the new Maxima, but the Prem. and Sport. She liked them both.

Yesterday, we test drove a G37 with Prem. and sport wheels. Black/Black Also, drove a G37 coupe. White with prem and sport wheels. I think she would really rather have a coupe, but knows we still need 1 sedan still.

So, I'm pretty sure we could get either at invoice minus the $2K rebate, but could we do better??? Chances are we will just keep the sedan, but I do enjoy looking!!!! and test driving!!!!

So, while we were there, I had to check in on the sedan. Here's some pics I clicked with the wife's phone cam.Engine looked VERY CLEAN!!!! (thanks M1 !!)

Yep, it was in the air, so all pics were looking up.

You can see the Y gasket/plate here that they were concerned about, but ended up looking fine. Cam sprockets will be replaced.

Rich

There are always deals out there if you are persistent.

The wife just got a good deal on a 2009 Altima S after searching and test driving a plethora of vehicles over a six week period.

Wait and see!

That should not be a problem if they do a good job. I monitor my MPG and oil consumption very closely. That is a good indicator of how the engine is performing.

As long as vehicle sales are down as the economy and jobs continue to fall there will be good deals on new vehicles.

Rich,

Telco is right as usual. There are deals everywhere. Car industry hurts in every corner. If you buy a sedan you probably get a better deal over the coupe.

I can't really help with numbers as you know we are far uop North and they cranching different numbers here than in the States.

I was looking at houses on the weekend. Thinking to buy a 4-5 bedroom house close to the university and rent the rooms. I've seen how low the mortgages.

I'd go online and get some quotes and walk out with the 2 lowest ones in your dealership ask them to beat it. In this case you give them a chance if they take it fine if they don't just go with the other.

Time to testdriving.

LOL

Why not to go with another brand? I know I know which one?!?!? LOLThere aren't many in this segment.

Have you seen the new fusion. FORD bahhhha I like it. Has some interesting features what you can't see in too many luxury cars. They even have a blind spot info sensor in the mirror built in. Has around 260 hp. Not bad from Ford.

Or that. However I would def. wait till the 2010 comes out. The ride is harsh on bumpy roads with that thing. Also not sure if I really like the size of it. It is too big. Another thing I don't like with them they took bits and pcs from other cars instead of creating their own design.

the genesis didn't get much of a thumbs up by cr.

Stopped by local Honda to check a loaded Accord, but they didn't have one. Dealership is going thru bankrupsy and can not get any more cars.

I drove a 4 and 6 cyl altima and prefer both to the new Max, but that's just me. Will check back with Infiniti closer to the end of the month.

If you go with the Accord make sure you get the painted door handles not the chromed ones. They looked weird. It looks like they are upside down. When they color matched to the body it isn't as bad but the chromed ones are. I have not driven one yet so can't comment on that one.

Genesis does not sell well. Hundai did not hit a jacpot with it. They are selling less than they were planning. 2000/month. Also they are selling less than they used to sell Azeras.

How is this number in comparison to 'G's. It is still at the rate of 24,000 a year and it didn't exactly come out during a good time.

True but they knew that when they lounched it and they expected the 2000/ month. They thought people would go for a lower priced and same equipped Genesis sedan over the Mercedes,Audi, Infiniti, Lexus but it did not turned out that way. They even said it they thought it will take sales from the new E-class. Well Mercedes had people pre order e-class crazy. I think it was around 50000 e-class pre order. That would be 3 years of production for Genesis in this pace. After 3 months they had no more dream. Now they have no expectation for sales on the Genesis. I don't even see any more commercials for the sedan. They blew all the budget on the commercials and few adds on the superbowl. Of course the problem with the airbag not deploying on time or the rough ride did not help either.

Note that he said they expected 2000/month not that is what is actually selling.

My reference was what are the sales of 'Gs'? I was under the impression that the numbers really are not that much different.

eh. I saw a Genesis the other day and it didn't look like it did in the pictures to me. I personally don't like it. Maybe i didn't see the loaded one, but I didn't like it. Besides, I will NEVER buy a Hyundai. If you want a car made by women (no offense ladies) then be my guest.

I hope every woman on this forum does take offense(you guys are welcome to be offended also). I completely understand dissing the Genesis for the styling, or the mechanical aspect of the car or whatever inherent inferiority to Infiniti the car might have, but because a woman might have been a part of the construction is simply moronic. I looked hard to find the certificate that my G was only built my members of the male gender but it must have gotten lost on the way over from Japan. If you could post a copy of your paperwork I'm sure there would be a lot of very relieved guys on this forum.

I still think the new G37S Sedan is the winner...

The BMW is to expensiveThe Benz is to expensive and can't compete in the power category with only 260ish hp. The Audi will be broken before you get it homeThe Caddy will be out of business soon The Lexis IMHO is the only one that is close in the same price and power.

I think the G is also the best looking one!

Also Do you really want a FWD car? That isn't any fun

It is only FWD when you go forward. You have to backwards a little and there is your RWD car with RW steering. LOL

If the BMW didn't cost a little bit more what would be the consensus? As far as GM going out of business, it will not happen. They are an international company with lots of assets that are not being utilized here. They are also so intertwined with everything in the U.S. that they will be kept afloat here as well. The Lexus, well that is a good contender.

Perry,

Me think you need a beer... Don't take everything so serious

I know caddy isn't going out of business... it was just a joke.

I would bet money that you could get the best deal on the Caddy IMHO

I think that the BMW is a great car, but to me it is a little out dated. I don't really care for the styling. The motor is great... that is if you get the 335 and is just as fast or faster than the G. But you still have a cost of owner ship in the long run... If you keep the car for 4 years and get rid of it then you will be fine... but if not then you will be in trouble. not to mention they only change the oil once a year at BMW.... If you drive your car like I do... well you will be out of oil by 7k miles...

I don't like the c*** like attitude that you have to have to drive a 335i....

I think the Lexus is a far better car than the BMW. I really think the Lexus is a better car (Reliable) than the G...

It all depends on what you want.

Be a c***..... buy a bimmerBe a pretty boy... buy the lexusBe a G owner... buy a G

My wife is a perfectionist! If taught, she could build a car better than anybody. /discussion

Zozo, we did go by the local Honda, but they are in bankruptcy and have no leather v6 Accords. Might try another dealer this weekend.I guess I could drive it backwards!!

As for BMW, I should look beyond my own faults of believing there is a very negative stigma attached to owning a bimmer. Sorry, can't get past it. So, yeah, I agree with Tampa's assessment!!

There are two IS250's at the Infiniti dealer, maybe I should take one of those for a spin??

I still want to replace the sedan with a G37 Sedan THere is a black/black G37 w/prem and sport wheels sitting in the lot!

SO, nobody heard of any G37 deals?? I know there is 2k in 'rebates' and I should be able to get it at invoice. But, would rather get better deal

Take a ride in the is 250

But don't judge it by the motor... IMHO Lexus should have never built it with a 204 hp motor. My is300 had much more power and was a lighter car.

If you like the Lexus you have to get a 350 NOT the 250... One cool thing about the Is is you get A/C seats... I wish the G had those... They make the leather so nice!

We checked the used 250, but wife thought it was too small inside.

We also drove a white g37S sedan, but we didn't like the drivers seat at all.

So, we looked at a slate blue and a black g37 w/prem. Almost pulled the trigger on the slate blue, but they couldn't give us a solid rate and I didn't want to sign anything without knowing the rate. But, it would have been a compromise, since she really wants white. They told us that the $2K rebate was going away after yesterday. If true, then we will stop shopping until this Feb. when the rebates come back around.

Yea the 250/350 are a little small... But they are very nice inside!

SVT you need to get the G37s... Then you can talk the wife into taking your coupe since the seat isn't any good.

I think Infiniti will come out with even better rebate than 2k off. Wait a little to see what happen. If they want to sell in this economy they should come up with a good deal.

Rich buy a condo or a small house. I'm looking around to buy something at the University and rent it out. 1 or 2 bedroom would be perfect. Not sure how the house market is around you.

I like the IS250 however the engine size was a turn off factor for me.

[QUOTE=SVTCOBRA]Anybody making getting any great deals on new G37's ???If so, what did you get?

I Just got my 09' G37X Sedan for 37K, Sticker was 42K. Car has the Nav/Loaded all the toys. Basicaly got the Base model price with all the goodies.

Cars I drove and compared...

BMW 335 Ix. Car had some pep in the launch but you really had to bury the pedal to make her squeal. This was also my first time driving a BMW and I hated the interior. Was very blocky... I felt like I was sitting on a bench at a picnic table.

Acura TL AWD 3.2. Car moved nicely. Really had some juice when you hit it and sounded nice too. Hate the front end panel. Was willing to deal with it and replace it with aftermarket grill which the dealer was pushing on me because they said the response to the grill was less than great. The dealer tried asking sticker 42 so I walked. They called me 3 more times to end up at 34K. I still told them too late. I did like the interior a lot on the TL. The seats were very sporty.

Caddilac CTS. Nice car... A little slower than I wanted. The pop-up nav was the deal breaker for me here. It looks like the boss walked in after they design team was done and asked where the nav was going to go....oops.. Pop up was cheesy and looks like it will be an issue in the years to come. I was also turned off to Caddy because they wouldn't let me test fly the CTS-V. Holy Crap the numbers on that thing are sick.

Nissan Maxima 2009.

Love the new body style and interior. Beautiful car. CVT=no Sack. I felt no oomph when I buried the pedal. It is slow. I know it feels different bla bla bla. Look at the numbers. It's slow. And feels even slower. Also the dealer said there were limited quantities of the high demand Maxima's so he couldnt budge on the sticker of 42K.... More than I paid for the G...

Tampa,We DID NOT like the S seats!!!! LOVED everything else about the car, but we both hated the drivers seat!

Zozo,The IS250 just seemed to small inside for the wifie! And as far as doing a rental, my neighbor did his house across the street when he moved and they got some CRAZY couple in there that didn't pay him and ended up trying to commit suicide!!!

Graflo,Sounds like you got a great deal!! Sounds similiar to the deal we turned down yesterday because I couldn't get an approved interest rate from the dealer. They told me they could before I went up there and then gave me some BS. So, I got pre-approved thru my credit union today at a good rate. But, the car was off-site getting window tint.......

We will check in tomorrow....Really on the fence as to keep the 05 or pull the trigger on the 09.

I got the sport when I purchased my sedan. I like the seats however for some they are deal killers. The cost to exchange the seats is a couple of grand from what I can tell depending on the need for the rears. In my case being an X it would probably have been easier to to swap the front the bumpers than the seats.

So, going to wait til I get my sedan back, then will put it on Craigslist and see if I can sell it for a fair price. The 2K off deal should be good til the end of the month.
