Looking to purchase a 08-10 (maybe 11) M35X OR M45X

Since the first 2 cars I looked at where loaded I'm been stuck on getting a loaded car if I'm going to spend the money.
I'd really like to have the nav but after that should I hold out for the upgrade Bose, lane departure, etc?

Personally I'm not a big fan of many of the "driving aid" type things, because you have a tendency to get used to them and become complacent when driving other vehicles. For instance, my father is really bad about not checking his blind spot on the interstate before changing lanes. Last car they had was a Buick and it had a little light on the rear view mirror when there was a car in the blind spot. They would definitely get used to that, and when driving his other vehicle which didn't have that it got even worse..

The upgraded bose might be worth it, but I wouldn't hold out for the intelligent cruise or lane departure, etc. For me, condition/maintenance history and color combo would be more important than if it has every option or not, especially if your car currently doesn't have it.

i have the upgraded bose system and i love it - other features i barely use. Its a nice feature for insurance purposes though, i saved another 100 bucks?

Lane departure is the only thing I really do not use. Active Cruise Control I use all the time (I drive long distances on the freeway). I upgraded the entire sound system but it was much easier to upgrade with the 14 channel system. If you are asking about them, you'll want them or wish you had them. :chuckle:

I think the upgrade packages are definitely worth while
I had the advance tech on all 3 m I have purchased the 13 is even more advanced than the 08 or 06 .The adaptive cruise is great ,lane departure makes you use the turn signal and makes you a safer driver, the toys are better than the v8 choice for me . I enjoy the 14 speaker Bose as well and after 80,000 miles at 70 mph you will enjoy these conveniences more than the extra stops at the gas station with the v8. I also drive my wives mini van, and my Harley and I don't get confused looking for these features when driving another vehicle but wish I had them !!!

I think the upgrades are well worth it; they are what makes a great sport luxury sedan: the whole package. Without, one could always buy an Altima. Hell, even my girlfriend's 2011 Sentra SL has nav, Bluetooth, heated seats, backup camera, and steering wheel controls! I really like the ICC, and the AFS is huge in my book also. I have owned a 2006 M45 Premium, and currently a 2012 M56S. I cannot imagine either one without all the bells and whistles.

Personally, if I was looking for a 2006-10 M, I would lean towards an '08 & up. Many improved features; iPod interface being a huge one.

but i love all the speakers i have in the seats as well

That's what I'm hoping to bank on. My number one fav is at a Ford Dealer and who is going to go to a Ford Dealer for it, I just hoping it sticks around for a few more weeks and they say sure we'll take your offer. Going to check two out on Sat, one is a "backup" 08 and another is a 07 that is suppose to be almost perfect. One dealer told me they have had theirs for 6 months with not any interest so hoping that is common and i can get the one i want in a few weeks.

Also something to think about:

Some of the replacement parts seem to be going cheaper for the newer model Ms...not sure why, but for example:
I've been pricing out a driver's side 06' sport headlight with the AFS, most on Fleabay are about 500-600 bones (and they aren't even perfect, broken tab here or there, etc) !!

the '08 ones are priced 200-300 bucks cheaper...whaaaatt?!!!??

I enjoy my 14 speaker Bose system too, plus the added torque of my V8!!! premium gas prices stink!

The 2nd one I drove was the V8, I was stuck on the V8, but they are about impossible to find so I'm over that. I drive V8's i have 3 at home guess time for a V6.
