Yeah. I second that. I was super proud of my wife for buying a 5 speed manual. She loves it and hates driving autos now

I bought a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 for the winter. Best decision I ever made. We have had snow here in Chicago continuously for the past 1-2 months, and RWD G35 is my daily driver. I have no problems driving in snow WHATSOEVER.

Btw, I fully support the 2nd gear start as well as turning off VDC at times. Use 2nd gear only if the tires break traction really easily, otherwise start in 1st. Also, when driving in snow, I always stay in as high gear as possible. If I need to pass I wont be in a really low gear. Instead I leave it in a higher gear so that I am about 2000-2500rpm. That way you don't have enough torque to break traction and spin out (Well you might but it's a lot harder). If you ever get stuck in snow, make sure you turn off the VDC. Otherwise you will never get out.

I taught both my wife and my daughter how to drive a stick and they both do quite well. In fact when my daughter bought her first car it was a 5 speed Honda. Haven't been able to get either one to change oil yet though.

I wonder if Hillary drives a stick?

Mine does OK in the snow and ice.I have Dunlop D3's and they stick nicely.I drove home in a big snow storm the other night with little trouble, although the car had a tendency to drift sideways with ANY input on a certain stretch of snow/ice.

rear wheel drive + snow = not a good idea.

I wouldn't have bought the g if i lived in a snowy area (as my commuter car). this is why I am glad I live in FL.

Oh she did it well!

And now Hillary wants a turn to have her stick driven because we all know she is the one with the stick in their house!

My wife and I learned how to drive stick on our honeymoon in Kauai.

I always understood the concept, but never had the opportunity to practice. Due to our ages, we got stuck with a 91 Toyo Tercel (mind you, this was 2 years ago).

It's amazing how you can teach someone (and yourself) a "difficult" skill when you conceptualize it for them.

Back to the snow situation. I have no clue what snow is. I see white stuff on the mountains, but I though that was just painted on during the non-existent California season change. Kind of like that movie where the guy is being filmed since he was a child

I would get tires that lent themselves to snow and then learn how to drift in snow (somewhere wide open obviously) so that you can pull yourself out of a sticky situation if it ever occured.
