Are the 5 speed transmissions the same for both the KA and sr20 engines?

I was thinking of reuilding the transmission in my 1990 240 SX hatchback, or having my son do it, heh-heh. Is the stock 5speed 1990 American transmission the same one that's used in a Japanese model with a sr20 engine. My engine may not last forever and I'd like to know if I can use my trannsmission with a sr20 in the future. Another thing, where's a good place to get an overhaul kit and any advice appreciated.

Bellhousing are different, internals are the same. Its kind of a pain to swap bellhousings but its cheaper then buying a used SR trans.
