sometimes , if they are too dark ... and if its VINYL OVERLAY ..just tell them that and they will probally let you off. .. if its Sprayed on .. and its tooo dark ... well your going to have to redo your process over... which will suck!

If I was a cop I would pull you over if it was obvious to me.

I don't really care for mods that compromise safety. Anything that makes safety, head, tail, brake lights less visible is obviously illegal. I beleive some of the parts in their description tell you that they are for "off highway" or show use only.

They're not gonna hassle you in FL for that. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I'll throw in my $0.02 on the bus seat belts.

If they passed that law...I assume it would then become the bus drivers responsibility to ensure they ALL had their belts on.

If there was an accident of some sort and one of the kids got hurt because he/she decided to remove their belt and the driver didn't know, who do you think the finger gets pointed at?? I wouldn't want that responsibility.

or

If there is an accident and the bus flips or something like that and everyone needs to get out quickly (gas leak etc..) you now have 30 panicking kids belted into their seats, crying and just plain freaking out... who is going to un-buckle them all?" Who's responsibility is it?? The bus driver...again, maybe they are knocked out or unconcious, now what??

And lastly, it's a pain in the *** now to get stuck behind a bus when they pick up or drop off kids... imagine you had to wait until they we're all buckled up too??

Ok ...I'm done now

You guys are killing me - you can see tint on headlights the same way you can see tinted windows. If tint was invisible why would anyone go to the trouble of installing it

look at the yellow mustang rear to see the difference - dead obvious - even at highway speeds.

Tinted windows reduce the amount of light transmitted in and out - and tinted headlight covers are going to work the same way. This is why they are not legal - tinted covers will reduce the visibility of the lights you are covering - there may be a difference in the degree of reduced visibility depending on the darkness of the tint - but there will be a reduction. REduced visibility of head and other lights compromises your safety and anyone you are on the road with.

Personally i think people that tint their headlights are idiots b/c of the dramatic reduction in lighting to see where you're going...tinting the tails on the other hand i do not mind as long as they aren't completely blacked out. I don't know about you guys but everytime i get behind one any new car with LED tails like ours i get blinded when they brake lol.

I understand your point too. My .02 is now we don't want to be reliable for one or maybe 2 maybe more kids who did not buckle up and got seriously injured. So lets kill the all? Lets talk about how many survived because of the seat belt. Say when bus got flipped what's you chance to survive w/o belt and what with belt? As they did it to me when I was in the school(20+ years ago). My parents signed the paper every year they are reliable to tell me to buckle up when the warning sign is on. And every single time we got on the bus the driver told us thru the speaker to buckle up. They even showed us pictures what happenes if you don't buckle up. I remember one of my classmate puked when she saw the picture. See it workes I still remember after 20+ years.

To be honest about waiting for the schoolbus to go. I have no problem at all. It's their safety we must respect that.

my .02 anyways.

WTF has this turned into lol ...Vinyl overlay on headlights comes in many ways , to just black out the surrounding .. usually not meant to do the whole thing while tail lights are same ..

Overlays can add full TINT or just a glaze of a color ... mostly the reflective look of oil on your taillights ---- G37 Concept vehicle!

Since i sorta started this ... i will end it!

There are many types of overlay for headlights and taillights .. its your own preference. .. but tinted headlights\smoked. .. it will reduce light ... its basically for show ... if full tint

On the other hand .. the surrounding type of overlay .. that is for show and can be used legally ( It also protects the headlight from flying debris)

and Cali , those tints are with LIGHTS OFF... if you stomp on the brakes the .. it will have a little less light but still visible. ..

To answer his question again .. YES ITS LEGAL .. but not to the extreme..
