Hello there! I just got my new wheels. They look smashing if i can say it myself. I have just one question. Are they to big?17x9 ET-30

Old/new

From side

From top

From front

From rear

My plan is to fit them with 225 tires and stretch them a little. So maybe it is just me being worried, but will this be okay? I am a little afraid the police wouldnt like my fitment very much.

The site who sold them to me said they would fit perfect on the wheel arches, and they had them self tried this on a s13. I have it all in writing, so i don't think it would be any problem returning them and getting 17x8,5 et-35

I think this will be dope when i stretch my tire over, but i am worried it will be an eyecatcher for the police. What do you mean?

I guess i have to stretch the wheel arches a little, and get som mudflaps.I am using KONI RED for know. I got them with the car, and have not been able to change them to TEIN or something. i am at around 30mm lowering. When i get 225x45 tires on, it should look nice.I will not be able to get - camber. The wheels are just a centimeter or two from the suspension :P

Check your rear fitment, you may rub cause the rear gets camber with lowering.

Put tires on wheels, mount on car and road test, then remove and check for missing rubber.

Sorry, it's not exactly what you wanted to hear, i know...

Well unfortunately that's how its gotta be. No 2 cars are alike, so it can't be spoon fed to you. Man up and buy some tires. You can sell them here on classifieds if they are the wrong ones. It's not like you don't have other wheels to ride around on if it's not correct or anything.

Besides, you are in the wrong forum. There is a Wheels/suspension forum you should be asking this in.

Those are nice 4-lug wheels. I have 17x8. It stuck out a little bit like that when I test fitted without tires. Once dropped, wheels will sunk in. Guess what? I had to run 15mm spacers to make them flush. 17x9 is a good set up, so I would keep them and make it work. 17x8 up front make your life bit easier though.

- Remove front fender liners and relocate wires- Roll rear fenders - Get adjustable arms

i don't think many places will take back wheels that had tires mounted on them already, well at least place i bought my wheels from said "no".

But nice wheels. I have a S14 with 17x9.5 all around, so...no i don't think they look too big.

Fitment should be fine. I'm running 5zigen FNs 17x9 -20 all the way around without any problems.

if anything roll the fenders, this is my friend's s14 with 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x9 with a +12 offset. we flared the fenders with vise grips and put some rubberized undercoating on them. we rolled them the cheap way cause we ordered him some 50mm overfenders, i don't have a new pic with the overfenders but this is with the fenders rolled.

if anything get bolstered fenders all the way around. it will look sick.

i love your rims!!

Wheel/tire size should be decided on by the amount of grip level you need by the amount of HP you have , not just for looks.

But if your just concered about looks , then they look ok. Just failed by buying Rotas.

^ rotas arent that bad, jeez louise.

i like how they look. youre gonna have to go ahead and get some tires to stretch over 'em to see what youd have to do for nice fitment.

still have your old wheels?

I don't see the point in upgrading to 9" wide wheel only to wrap them in tires that are stretched. Hell, my SE wheels have 205s, a 225 would only be a 20mm difference.

Why not run 235s all around or 255s in the back and 245s up front?

If it's rotas, they can't be -30 offset. Unless they came out with a new line of wheels, for which i could care less. LOL. You'll have to run negative camber to make them flush or something.

Because stretched tires are now cool. Didnt you get the memo?

you can find them at driftworks.comThey are +30

Stretched wheels are cool. That is just how it is! I don't know if i can run negative camber. The wheels are to close to the suspension

It can't be 17X9+30 and stick out. Flush is 17X9+20. Either sizing is off, or you are running spacers.

Lay out a couple of wood planks under the wheels. Then drop the car slowly until you are sure the suspension is more or less fully compressed. That will give you a better idea of how the wheels will tuck in.I would suggest a 235/40 for the front, and a 245/40 for the rear. If you want both ends equal, then run the 235/40 all around.Just a little food for thought.

Those are the widths I have except my wheels are 9 +15 front/ 9.5 +22 rear

Don't forget the top will sink in when the suspension is loaded...

If you're referring to the my tire size... I don't know what others are running but my tires were free (had them laying around off my friends drift car when I bought the wheels), so I'm running these and will probably switch to 245F/255R or 245F/265R when these are dead...

I just wanted to give an example of what it looks like... as you can see I have room to fit more tire

DUDE! how the heck did you pull your front fender like that? Any excessive pressure I tried with a roller would just pull the front bumper up. Thats pretty dope...

Thanks! Ha... I just rolled/pulled the ____ out of it with a fender roller and used a mini-sledge on a few spots. The front fenders were crap (rest of the car was great) when I got the car... so I just didn't really care as long as the wheels/tires fit

If you look in one of the links in my signature there is a guy with a good rec about how to do it cleanly by pulling the fender off after a mild roll and tap it out with a hammer... which is probably what I'd do if I cared about them. Up until now this has been my racecar... but I'm going to convert it into a "GT" car soon that will include cleaning up the body and probably dumping the front fenders (thinking I'll build a custom set of S13.5 fenders for a conversion)

I think the guy in this thread might need a roll when he puts it on the ground in the front... depending on his suspension (I have Kei Office XT's that are 9kg in the front... so it doesn't move very much at all)... so I'd go for the pull the fender and work with a hammer technique after a std roll... just be careful and TAKE YOUR TIME or you might end up needing to repaint them
