are intake mods worthwhile w/ stock exhaust?

i'm interested in the following mods (03 coupe)

- JWT pop charger- Z tube- Skunk2 Plenum spacer (5/16")

everything on the car is stock so far. i don't have enough cash for an exhaust sys, so is it worth doing these mods for performance reasons only if i keep the stock exhaust?

thanks

is you plan to get exhaust eventually... why not?

most of us don't have the cash or even if we do, we probably don't do evenrtyhing at once unless cost of install becomes a factor

I vote go for it and get exhaust later

You'll be very happy with the sound the JWT charger/Z-tube gives, and it does free up some horsepower (8-10 with the spacer). An exhaust system using the stock CATs will not give you as much "bang-for-buck". Plus, the stock exhaust sounds great stock!

In the words of Gov. Aanuld....DU IT NOWW!!

Why not go for the Motordyne spacer instead of the skunk2. Most people complained about it.

i feel like if i do the jwt pop charger with z tube, it would be useless or almost useless to do the plenum spacer too, unless i get a new exhaust. basically, if i want to increase hp, i have to shell out a lot of cash at the beginning (exhaust), then i'll see the improvements that i'm looking for with the cheaper stuff. it's taking the big first step that holds me back. maybe there's a good deal out there for exhaust that i haven't found yet. any hints?? cheapest i've found is $725 for borla.

so, Motordyne's Iso Thermal plenum spacer is the way to go (instead of Skunk2)??? is the iso thermal any better than the basic spacer? the price difference doesn't matter, just curious.

Nissan did a very good job on the exhaust, which is why gains are limited when replacing from the converters-back. Unless you do a complete exhaust system (headers/strait pipes/aftermarket CAT back) you will not gain that much HP.

Doing the cheaper intake stuff first yields about the same as only doing just a CAT back, for a lot less cash. Now if you do everything at once, CAT a back and intake mods, that’s a different story as they work well together.

I've heard good things about using the spacer in combination with the Z-tube/charger, even without touching the exhaust. So, with all intake mods completed, you should see around 15HP, which is the same as a CAT back...

I have the Z tube and Motordyne spacer and love it.

Skip the Skunk, you don't want the free vacuum leak they include in their package.

Z tube, pop charger and 5/16 MD spacer is the only way to go.
