I like how they hit on the RX-8's horsepower. What they're missing is that it doesn't have equivalent torque figures. It's still fast but there won't be any of this blistering acceleration they speak of even with a GT Mustang. These aren't really fast cars. Just faster than average.

Agreed. I want to know what I am actually getting, not the sales numbers.

after reading the article, i think i can agree with them.. I think a lot of the modern Japanese cars are well overrated... The VQ in the G35 and FX is rated at 280HP, but its a slower car AND its lighter than my Q45 AND it has a better gearing set.... I think theyre overrated. I hear its better in the 350Z....

Showing wheel horsepower would be a much fairer way of doing it, IMHO....

agreed....

I wanna see what it does at the tires....

certain factors in the driveline can kill the wheel numbers...

The first car to use the new testing system was the C6 Z06. So it's 505 hp is at the wheels.

Meanwhile, I find it hard to believe that the current Accord makes 160. My 93 makes 160 and is FAR more powerful according to the "butt dyno" than the Accord.

Yeah, and also my car redlines at 6k, and makes power at 3500. Not like the honda which redlines at 7k and makes power at 6k.

Their 2-strokes might not make any, but my 4-stroke XR500 sure does. First gear is solely there for wheelies and eating clutches.

When is the Renesis going to get a turbocharger? This will solve the Rex's whole problem.

EDIT: The rest of this post was deleted because even I didn't understand what I was talking about.

Yeah I've thought for years they should put the HP numbers to the wheels ... who cares what comes out at the crank, I wanna know whats there for actual usable power at the wheels.

Yes, I know this will make me very unpopular here, but I think it should be rated at the wheels.

Unpopular here? Everyone thinks it should be rated at the wheels. The only thing that's going to make you unpopular is going through and resurrecting tons of threads for a worthless post.
