are frontier ka24de's and 240sx ka24de's the same?

i'm curious whether i could install performance parts designed for 240sx's ka24de engines into an 03 frontier. friends of mine swear i could, but i can see from the install section that the intake and throttle bodies are different between the two vehicles. what other differences should i be worried about? i'm envisioning this truck as a lowered and boosted sleeper. possibility or pipe dream?

would i have to switch intakes with a 240 in order to install turbos or intercoolers, or could i get away with ordering 240sx parts and rerouting hoses and piping and such? or would i be better off dropping a sr20det into it? i'm not exactly loaded, but i dont want to cut corners, and "custom" usually means "expensive."

also, does anyone know a good source for frontier-specific parts? the only specific stuff i can find are heavy-duty bilstein shocks, spark plug wires, and a cat-back by some unheardof company.

edit: a suspension-related question: i just had the squeaky front suspension parts replaced by the dealership, but now there's a squishy-rubbery type sound when i brake to a stop. it also makes that sound when i release the brakes and take off, and when i get out of the truck. is it possible that the bushings just need to be "broken in", or is it something more sinister, like about-to-break shocks or springs?? the sound makes me think that the brakes are sticking, but i know that's not the case.

i had an 01 ka24de frontier and my brother has a 1991 240 ka24de. they sure as hell didn't look the same (intakes, accessories, etc).

i know the power ratings are different too. i think the 01 truck engine was 143hp and the 240 engine was 155hp.

The ka in the truck has a different intake manifold that positions the tb way differenty. you could definitely use an intake for the 240sx but it would end short and you would need to get a little extra piping to make it reach. I saw on ebay some pacesetter headers for the trucks you may want to check out, as well as a 2.5inch exhaust. I bet you could fit underdrive pulleys from the 240 on the frontier, but I haven't checked. You could replace the mechanical fan with an elecric fan and free up the load on the engine a little bit.

oh yeah, as far as boost goes, pick some kind of engine management system. I had an rb20det s14 240sx that got stolen and just bought a 98 frontier with the ka24de as a replacement. I've been thinking of turboing it too, because I'm used to a 12 sec daily driver, not a 17 sec one. Anyway, I think the truck motor should have just as much potential as the 240sx ka24de as far as boosting goes. I will be making an intake and eshaust for mine, then putting on an msd 6a ignition and running the megasquirt ems in addition to the stock ecu to do the tuning. The injectors are the same style as the 240sx's, which means you can use 370cc injectors from the sr20det, vg30dett, or rb25det to get more fuel. It doesn't seem to be a pipe dream at all as long as you have experience modifying engines and fabricating parts.

Edit: so the easy route would be to get sr20 injectors, an safc, a smaller t3 turbo, and make the ic piping and down pipe from mandrel bends. Should not be too hard at all.

I also found that unorthodox racing makes a lightweight flywheel for the frontier, and exedy makes two racing clutches for it, an organic disk which inreases to 59% over stock torque capacity (I had this on my 240 and it was amazing for the money) and a 4 puck ceramatalic clutch that holds over 100% stock torque.
