Um no, Exedy is whats in most, if not all japanese cars from the manufacturer. I think Exedy is also ACT's parent company.

Anyway, i have one of those "cheap" Exedy clutches in my car now. In fact, from that exact same place. I replaced my clutch about 3 months ago and it still grips hard, even with my J30 LSD :D

Ive also heard horror stories from SPEC clutches, but some good stories as well.

$118 clutch on ebay?? i dont think i would trust it, not in my car at least. any clutch under $250 is most likely not very good. ive always heard that act and spec were the best clutches, though ive heard some bad things about act, most everything on ebay is crap. why do you think its on ebay? there are no spec, or act clutches on there.

A stock clutch and pressure plate is an Exedy unit. A stock clutch, pressure plate, TOB, pilot bearing and alignment tool should only be around $100. http://www.clutchcity.com I believe is where I got my last stock clutch, it was an exedy unit, around $100. It's just a stock clutch though, don't be fooled.

More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. Exedy is a name brand manufactuer who is backed by years of clutch making experience. Their products could be found in Signal's dift vehicles and other various shops. Dai-kin Clutch Corporation is the USA distributer of Exedy clutches. Check out that link, very informative.

it was in the list from the link posted by sil80drifter.

That exedy clutch is just a stock replacement, not performance, hence the cheap price. I bought mine because i need a clutch asap, that company was in FL and i didnt have 300 bucks to drop on a ACT.

my freind has an Exedy super single in his Scooby and he loves it. It is a very popular brand in Japan and manufactures a lot of clutches that get restamped with another company's name.

Those Tien springs don't have much of a drop. $139 is about the correct price for those springs, they generally don't get really expensive.

daniel240, I just typed in ACT for example purposes. you said there were NONE. that's overgeneralized and false. type in "spec clutches" or "spec" and you'll get a list that's just as big with 240s in there as well. don't say stuff you could easily research before you make a claim.

p.s.: if you even for one moment are thinking of saying "this is for the SR, not for KA" I will have to explode. transmission is the same.

Just so everyone knows, when we talk about clutches in the 250-400 range we are ALWAYS talking about a PERFORMANCE UPGRADE CLUTCH. If you want a stock clutch unit it should NEVER run more than $150. Wholesale price on the stock Exedy/Daikin unit is around $100 which is perfectly reasonable. Your car came stock with an Exedy unit, the come stock in almost every Japanese car. Pinnacle of reliability.

I've purchased an exedy clutch for my SR powered silvia in the past. Personally I think they are exellent for the price. I payed 20,000 yen brand new and I don't know how much new cluthes cost in japan now but at the time it was a very good price.
