Are ECM connectors for 2000 I30 and Maximas interchangeable?

I know the ECMs are quite specific, at least I was told that when replacing, you need to match the part number. It is true for the plug as well? I would think that the plugs for a Maxima and I30 are the same if the cars are outfitted similarly (AT, Traction, etc). Am I incorrect? Please post your thought on the subject. Thanks.
