Heheh, I just had to post about this. Recently, on Colbert and Stewart's shows, I've noticed that they are quick to use McCain or other Republicans as the butt of their jokes. Of course, that irks me - big deal - as a Republican, I don't find it to be as funny as they do, but then I got to thinking ...

If their intent isn't to be blatantly one-sided, if they really are concerned as comedians, professionally, then Democrats just must not be funny. I mean, I see this all over the place - Republicans are very very funny people, but not Democrats. Hardly any of the mainstream media folks make much fun of Democrats.

So ... is it because Democrats just aren't funny, or is it because most comedians are lefties?

Allow me to introduce you to Mr. Bill Clinton...

Perhaps you might recognize some of his work, like The Presidential Scandal where he was getting bjs in the oval office...

I remember back years ago on Connan, when they did "In The Year 2000" sketch...One was, In The Year 2000, the stain on Monica Lewinski's dress will be proven to be mustard. Mustard from Bill Clinton's pen15! I about fell out of my chair laughing so hard!

Good point.

What separates Stewart from his peers is his influence over the public. A Pew survey showed that 21 percent of Americans ages 19 to 29 watch the Daily Show as their only news source, so his views are being heard nationwide.

But I also ran across this:

There are substantial differences in the knowledge levels of the audiences for different news outlets. However, there is no clear connection between news formats and what audiences know. Well-informed audiences come from cable (Daily Show/Colbert Report, O'Reilly Factor), the internet (especially major newspaper websites), broadcast TV (NewsHour with Jim Lehrer) and radio (NPR, Rush Limbaugh's program)

According to the chart, Stewart/Colbert have the most knowledgeable audience.

Well 96, you got to admit, there's been a lot of raw material for the dems to work with when it comes to poking fun at the republicans. When Obama is president, I'm sure there will be a "change" in the comedic thrust as well.

Heheh, I READILY admit it. Bush is a comedian's dream, just as Clinton was.

I think Obama is a pretty funny fellow, myself. But it seems like Stewart/Colbert don't agree very often about that. I really don't think McCain is all that much of a funny guy. Sure, he's old, gosh I slap my knee and howl every time I hear it, that's hilarious, and he has that bumbling way about him, that's SO funny, uh huh, but there isn't much Obama does that seems to be funny.

So, I conclude that Democrats just aren't funny people, contrary to what I think.

Can anyone think of a funny Democrat?

I think Leno had commented on how Fidgety Obama was when he appeared on the View. In fact, he counted how many times he touched part of his attire. McCain was on the next day and he poked fun (in a good way) at Obama's fidgetyness as well (after the hosts already brought it up IIRC). There is ALWAYS something funny about everyone.

My gosh, I'd be a nervous wreck on the view too. I'd rather wear Mongols patch to a Hells Angel Party than be on the view.

I'll bite though. A Nancy Pelosi video from Sat. night live. A Must watch if you like a good laugh.

You can't joke on Obama and not be called a racist at the same time. That's hard for TV people.

I like Bill Maher's show on HBO.

Or his wife. Or his church. Or his Chicago politic background. Or his white grandmother.

As for Bill Maher, he's way above the crappy comedy for crappy crowd (as in uninformed teenagers) on Comedy Central.

Here's a piece with Larry King.http://www.cnn.com/video/#/vid...r.cnn
