i plan on upgrading my turbo a larger one, gt3071r, that should put me around 375 390, my question is do i NEED cams ( will i damage my motor if i dont have 'em??) or is it just a power adder with that turbo, i ask cause after i get the turbo kit plus other parts neccesary, i will be short on money, so pleaselet me know is it possible to run that turbo with stock cams??

whats your current setup? and 375hp? on a ka?

because if you are planning near 400hp on stock ka internals for a daily driver/oftenly driven car you better reconsider there. Sure it can probably be done for a while, but who knows how long.

If you want that much power, I'd think about saving more.

you wont have fun with your car without cams. If you do just the 3071r with no cams you will feel your power drop off in the high rpm range. I mean dont get me wrong, you wont have any problems running that setup, it just won't be to its full potential.

And I dont think you can hit 375-390 without cams on a 3071r. I think it will be more around 340-350 or so. and you will have to boost around 18-19 psi to achieve that.

great, kinda what i wanted to hear, i dont wanna use the full potential from my turbo, right away, plus i dont make too much being active duty.but no damage will come from not using cams though right??

there no way you could damage your motor unless you didnt do something right. Just make sure you tune is good and you have nothing to worry about.
