yes, the pistons and valves pass through the same space. You won't always bend a valve but odds are high.

well i ran the car without the crank pulley in, had that large washer underneath the cover so i figured i was safe..... it was all together except that and the accesorie belts... well that disc flew out and somehow the gear slid right out and the timing belt came off completely. but im sure the valves are now bent.... i cant line up the timing marks. i put the crank on the right mark then i cannot move the cams past a certain point the 1st and 4th cylinder intake and exhaust valves wont open all the way. i dont know why but maybe its only one cylinder but thats the lobe that is almost all the way open looking at the cam lobes.

this makes me want to give up on the car, but its my own fault. the local guy usually gives me a good deal on my motors. no harness ecu or any intercooler stuff but i got my last one for $650.00 so i might be able to get them down a bit because this motor i got seemed like it smoked and some stuff was broke so we'll see.

well iv done it once before, even with the bottom cover off and nothing moved around so i figured it was ok for a couple seconds... o'well just another fustrating thing but since its borderline winter here i might as well go get another engine in canada and then take this one apart and build it over the winter.

just really sucks!

and BTW, i know im stupid

well i put it all back together....

car seems to run perfect. i guess the nissan gods want me to suceed 50%. my overheating issue is still there. new water pump headgasket the thermostat when i had the engine warm was open so i know it is working, i still might get another one and try it out. itll get hot then heat up more idling.

i also tried taking the water pump belt off and it still wants to push fluid out the radiator idling. so either i have a cracked block or head.

unless there something about the CA that i dont know.

I have an extra long block I have been thinking about selling. I'm looking to get around $600 for it. I got it from a certain moderator on these boards about a year ago. I could maybe meet you half way. I'm in Central NJ.

Sometimes they bend only slightly and when you run the motor, they bend back. I'm sure they don't seal right afterwards, but good enough to run the car.

i put the belt back on, tested the compression cold it was 148-151 across the board. before the car was even ran. im going to try to get to canada and pick up another engine transmission today. i want to drive this thing a little before winter is fully here.
