Are brake cable swaps possible for a Z31?

I've been needing to buy brake cables for my 1986 z31. Each cable seems to run around 120$ new, and its been hell trying to find a junk one.

Is it possible just to replace the whole system going back from the brake handle with a cable system from a similar car (say a z32?)

afik the z31 cables are specific to z31's and rock auto only lists the front cable and it does nto cross reference with any other model, I might have a set but unfortunately it's in storage and I won't have time to deal with it until mod october

I think it would be easier to make a replacement cable than to adapt one to fit.
