I pulled the head of off my S14 SR today to put in headstuds, build the head, and put in a new head gasket. I havent bought the gasket yet, but I can get a lightly used Apexi one from a friend for hopefully a lot less than a new one. It doesnt really matter to me if I put it in and it leaks because all I'll be out of is time. I dont have any experience with the Apexi piece, thats why I ask...Thanks...

I dont think theres a thing as lightly used. Once its been put on and tq'd down, the metal compresses. I think spending $200 on a new one is more worth it considering how much work it takes to pull the head off. I mean, why do the work twice when you know how to do it right the first time.

yes metal head gaskets can be reused. Only those paper gaskets cant. Those are the ones that compress when torqued down. Metal head gaskets are 3 piece so they spring back. I have already reused my apexi head gasket 3 times with not one problem.

Reuse it, dont spend another 200 dollars. Thats just a waste of money.

That's the answer I wanted to here, but I understand what drifterprodigy85 is saying.
