Are all the hatchbacks on s13's the same?

So i just went to the junkyard and bought a used hatch on a base model 240sx(do not know the year) , i have a 1990 240sx se with the wiper blade and motor on the hatch(dents all over). anyways i went to replace it and had a really hard time getting to line up/ close , long story short i ended up putting thick rubber washers on the latch piece on the hatch then went in the trunk while my friend was sitting on the hatch and with a screw driver messed with the latch (on the actual trunk) to get the trunk to close. so my question is are all hatches the same for different years and models , also could i have a bad latch or is there something i should know about installing a hatch? any help would be much appreciated , thanks

They are the same.

You just need to make sure to align the hatch properly as well as the latch on the bottom of the hatch/chassis.

aight cool atleast know i know im not trying to fit something thats not oem. ill give it another look over the weekend thanks alot for the input
