Are 91 auto transmission EXACTLY the same as 90 auto transmission?

i just replaced my 90 SOHC auto w/ a 91 auto transmission. the wiring in new transmission clipped right into the 90 but iono if the wires go to the right place or not. Also iono if the A/T control unit is the same or not either. Can anyone confirm this or let me know what i need to do to get it to work. The problem i am having right now is that when i put it in drive, the car does not have any power, ppl would honk me for accelerating too slow. The car engine sounds fine. In reverse, the car feels normal w/ a good amount of power.

P.s. there is the correct amount of transmission flud in it and i still have this problem even when i put the transmission in "1" and "2".
