Are 24e and 24de pistons the same?

they are not the exact same but they have the same bore. you can use e pistons on your de to raise compression.

Don't even bother putting the E pistons in the DE. I know for a fact that a DE with stock internals can put down 165 naturally aspirated hp at the rear wheels. This equals 194 flywheel horsepower . Of course there are mods such as; larger MAF, larger injectors, good header like OBX, full exhaust, cold air intake, and ECU manipulations.

You can go ahead and swap the pistons in if you want to, but you don't have to. The 9.5:1 the DE has stock is enough to work with already.

the general concensus is swapping "e" pistons into a "de" will put you around 11:1 compression... but honestly the KA in my eyes has more potential to be boosted than N/A

every motor has more potential with boost

Some of us like na engines. Yes it is easy to get more power with a turbo or nos, but I like na. If you want to stay na, then I like the e pistons. You will have to run 98 octane fuel all the time, or take timing out to prevent it from pinging. But hey, who wants to do that. I mean that's the whole reason for compression.

I have a 13.3 race motor and I love it. I have a set of arias pistons for a e motor in my de. It takes a little machining so they won't hit the head. Also unshroud the valves in the head.

the pistons on the E will deffinately fit in the DE. If you use the early E pistons (the flat top ones) you will get 11.6:1 but if you use the later E (the dished style), you'll get 11:1.
