Are 240's supposed to ping??

my 95 s14 seems to have been pinging louder, more and longer from when i bought it 5 months ago. i only use chevron 91 (the highest in cali) and i just checked the timing and it seems right. (but i am not 100% sure)

what could it be??

the timing should have 6 white nitches, and the 2nd one from the top should be red right?? which would be 20 degrees B.T.D.C (before top dead center i presume??)

check out the faq on 240sx.org about checking your timing. Your distributor rotor maybe advanced.

i know the ka24e motors dont have a knock sensor but i think the ka24de motors do. if your timing checks out ok and your spark plugs look good (properly gapped) i would check the knock sensor if it has one
