Ok, I'll start by saying hi since its my first post here, But what brings me here is a conversation I had with a coworker about friend of his who also has an 04 Pathfinder with 72k and while he was driving on the freeway he randomly threw a rod. From what he said was he researched it online and it seemed to happen to various people on other boards..

Apparently the oil level was up, and there were no prior issues. It was well maintained and running up to par. I also have an 04 Pathfinder with almost 50k on it and its healthy and running strong.

I'd just like to know if this is infact a common problem with these years, and if so what might be causing it? Such as the oil pick up, or even the bolts backing out etc...

Thanks in Advance guys.

Well then maybe this is good news.. I thought you guys may know or have read about this happening.

I googled keywords in and got nothing myself but thought it was worth a shot. I'll try the search function on here some more.

threw a rod? well he must mean a connecting rod, because pathys with the VG35DE, the 3.5L, have dual overhead cams, idk about the 3.3 liter motor. so there are no push rods to throw. figure out what you buddy means or what really happened, but when i hear the phrase "threw a rod" i think a push rod, which again pathys do not have.
