According to Mazda, a certain type of spider (the yellow sac) may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent line (part of the emission control system), causing a restriction in the line and an excessively negative fuel tank pressure, which could lead to cracks and fuel-tank leakage—and potentially, fire.

nissan never warned me that a gigantic rat would eventually crawl into my heater fan and make a cozy little home. he met his demise when i turned on the fan full blast, i heard the sound of scrambling rat feet then this terrible shuddering, my entire dash was shaking, like it was trying to rattle itself right out of my car! i took it all apart and found his lifeless body plastered to the squirrel cage(rat cage lol)looking fan. he was really big and fat, no doubt he was the one that ate half the candy bar under my seat. my car has since been cleaned out and no rat issues.

I'm more terrified that this has happened SO MANY times that Mazda is willing to go to the expense of a recall. Seriously, how many cars are presumed infested and what parts of the US are those cars found?

I squashed about 3 of those guys in my car already, this month alone! I wonder how many people on the Mazda3forums have this problem?
I hate spiders, so this is a little treat to smash them. I just hope I don't freak when I see one nearing me, or close to touching me while I'm on the freeway!
Just for added effect to make everyone scared of them just as much as me:
