Ok, guys. My Zenki sprung a massive fuel leak and as far as I can tell, it looks like it's leaking from the tank rather than the fuel lines.

I found this write up on the replacement process.http://www.tamparacing.com/for....html

It's kinda out of my league, so I'm curious as to approximately how much this kind of job would cost at a shop. Any ideas, guys?

Really about 3 hours of work and a jack. Just get a used tank.

Really? Out of your league?

Changing the tank on a 240sx is easy as pie. a few hoses, 3 bolts and a jack...3 hours if your slow. Super Easy!

Oh really? It looks like the process seems different between the s13 and s14 models. Are you guys sure it's that easy? It sure as hell didn't look that easy when I was under there. Looked like I was gonna need a lift and possibly remove the subframe, exhaust and half of the driveshaft...

Do you have a write up for removing an s14 fuel tank besides the one I linked above? Because that one was pretty complex...

For the S14 you will have to disconnect the driveshaft, disconnect the parking brake cables, drop the exhaust, disconnect fuel pump, disconnect the filler and vent hoses, drop subframe, remove tank straps, drop tank. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't a big deal. I could get it done in an afternoon.

S13 open trap door disconnect wires/hoses. Disconnect fill pipe from body. Put jack under it and disconnect straps and lower. Then reverse the process to install.

I guess I'll take another look at it and give it ago. Maybe I'll save enough money to through in some solid aluminum bushings and a J30 diff while the subframe is out.

damn@that

i didnt realize s14 was so buried. i actually just got a leak in my tank too, im using the patch method. s13 is stupid easy, mine actually fell out of my car when i was driving (last s13, 2 years ago) due to the straps being so rusty, they finally broke and that was all it took. luckily i was only driving 15 mph or so.

Thanks for the input guys, but I really don't have the time or resources to do this myself right now. There's a particular shop I have in mind to do this work. I want them to do it, so I can see if I want to use them for bigger projects in the future. But I just want to get an idea of how much this will cost to have it professionally done. I'm not rich, but I'm not hurting for cash either.

Ppl have said this could be done in about 3 hrs if you know what you're doing, so maybe $240 for labor? I'd be totally ok as long as this doesn't exceed $500. Is that realistic, guys?
