My 04' I35 will be hitting 40,000miles this week, and I would like to do some moderate service to it. I took a look at the dealer's "BG service list", and it presents me with way too many options, including A/C flush, brake flush, coolant flush, power steering flush, transmission, etc.

Now, the transmission and coolant are good to go, as they are changed regularly anyway. I know I want to get the engine cleaning service (intake clean, etc), but are there any other things I should hit up at this point in the car's life?

*oil is also changed regularly with Valvoline Syn Blend

Thanks for any and all advice!-GMJ

Joe - Welcome aboard!

I'm a big fan of fluid flushes - However, if you're doing trans fluid flushes frequently, I'd say the others are kinda premature.

Brake fluid swap might not be a bad idea, given your climate.

BTW, you may want to rethink your choice of the K&N after reading this:zerothread/180100

If its liquid and in your car, flush it!

Fuel system cleaning would be wise -- a pressurized rail flush. New fuel filter too.

Post some pics. Enjoy the ride.

I fully agree with the last two posts, but please tell me you're not going to pay the stealership to do the flushes for you.

The only time I go to the dealer is for warranty related issues. For regular maintenance, such as these upcoming flushes, I go to my local mechanic, whom I trust 110% with my vehicle's needs. Not only does he do outstanding work, but I get to help him keep his little shop going.

/gives the finger to dealership prices//one more for good measure

Here are some pics from last year. I'll try to get some new ones soon though!

*sigh* I looooove that color.

I fell in love with the '01 I35's when I worked at the dealership for 3 months... I sold 6 of them.

This particular car was the only blue one that I had ever seen at a dealer. I had given up on blue and decided to settle for the Diamond Graphite, but when I went to the dealer again, here this car sat in the showroom.

As it turns out, it had been shuffled from dealer to dealer across Texas but had not garnered more than a few interested parties. It seems that everyone was going for silver and black. So, to boost the chances of a sale, the dealer added tint, pinstripe, wheel locks, and chromed rims. I told them to put the OEM rims back on and leave the rest.
