Whats funny is that some of those patents aren't even integrated by HTC. Since Android is open source for the most part a lot of these have been programmed into the phones by random developers that create custom roms.

I for one hope Apple gets their a** kicked on this one, but then again I don't like Apple.

One of those patents applies to multitouch. I wonder if Apple will be going after HP and Dell also.

It is disappointing to see this company continuously try to eliminate competition by applying for, and being awarded, patents with such broad coverage.

Patent law isn't that simple. It basically compels litigation even if an outcome isn't expected.

Apple got sued for several iPod- and iPhone-related technologies. The whole industry does it.

I think its humourous to watch them going after HTC. & Co. in order to avoid confronting Google directly.

My guess is the crew in Redmond is just pulling up a seat with a big bag of popcorn and a Coke to watch. APple needs to get of their Holier Than Tbhou horse and admit they're as dirty as everyone else.

Sure they are, look at how many iPhone killers have already decimated iPhone sales.

Apple itself has been sued for several silly patent infringements. I don't know why people get religious about their phones. It isn't good vs evil, its just business. They're just communication devices. We're just buyers.

As for "iPhone killers", you're all living in a cave. Nokia is by far the world's most dominant manufacturer of smartphones.

I agree with you 100%, especially about how this is just business and about Nokia.

I just think its funny and kinda weird from apples side to come out with something like this.

Agreed. Nokia is great.

But apple did have one of the first touchscreen phones.

And Microsoft. Windows does multitouch now, as does Windows Phone 7.

Its not just multi touch though. That one says one or more fingers.

So pretty much every single restaurant and fast food register too.

I think there's a misunderstanding here about how patent law works. In order for it to retain its validity, it has to be actively guarded and enforced.

There are no "patent police" running around checking for compliance. It has to be done through litigation.

I don't know the basis behind the allegations, but this really makes me sick. Being as how more than half of Apple's income comes from the iPhone, it is easy to see why they are so quick to try and take down anyone that threatens their market. I just can't stand this greed. I can't stand how some of these big corporations handle their issues sometimes.
