I've never joined a Mac 'Forum' as I have always been a member of the Mac User Group for the university where I studied. Most major universities will have some sort of group that you can participate in. You could check with your local university to see about finding a similar group that you could join.
Most of the posts on my list come from users who are longer students of the university and are now software engineers (several who work/have worked for Apple), graphic designers, corporate suits, ... so you get a very good variety of people and experiences answering your questions.
