I've read the forums and searched, and I know what the good, popular, expensive brands are. But I can't afford that right now. So I'm looking for a good deal. Where else to check but ebay... I found a few clutches that may be affordable. A couple are still higher than I can afford, but doable if I had to. If I could get a few opinions on some of the ones I picked out, that'd be great.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33730h ... ..33730the one below looked kinda sketchy... no pressure plate or whatever, but could I use the stock pressure plate? or does that go bad too?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33730h ... rs...33730

Is your engine stock or light mods?I've heard stay away from e-bay but I don't think these clutches can be any worse than autozone.

The link in that thread is no longer valid, so I can't really tell what kind that was.

And, I was actually looking for a stock clutch on ebay, and couldn't find one. Would I have to get it from the dealer, or could I get an oem replacement from autozone?

I've gotten one from NAPA and one from autozone.Napa one was good to me all up to the poin of where the spring broke.Almost got me killed. And autozone maybe I got a defect, it slips on me and I'm stock and was their heavy-duty one.Glad I'm goign KA-T so I can get rid of it.Found this link. http://www.drivewire.com/speci...chkit Do any of our sponsors car stock clutches? All I've seen is racing. What about Dan?http://www.rockauto.com/catalo...up=15

awesome, man... thanks for your help!

I think I'm gonna get one from NAPA this weekend. They're slightly more expensive than autozone, but I'd rather not have slippage on a brand new clutch.

Well, we are currently in the middle of changing the clutch. My next door neighbor is good friends with a mechanic, so we're doing it next door. We have the transmission out, and we're having a real hard time getting the bushing out. The mechanic is searching for his seal puller, and I figured I'd take a lunch break.

Under way...

well, the bushing ended up needing to be cut out, and just everything in general took a LOT longer than it needed to. It didn't help that the mechanic starts uber-flirting with some crackwhore that showed up. Yes a real crackwhore. I live in a great nieghborhood. He didn't know she was a crackwhore though, until later... then he gives her a ride home. He didn't really do anything anyway. My neighbor and I did 95% of the work. Hopefully, we'll get it done tomorrow though.

wow... 2 days and $200 later, my clutch is changed. And sweet freakin jesus, what a difference it made. Apparently, my clutch has been in bad shape since I bought the car, but since this is the first 5speed I've ever owned, I didn't know any better. It feels like my car has 60 more horsepower. It drives like a brand new car. I friggin love it.

We used a Sachs oem clutch. My only gripe is that I have to bury the pedal to shift. and within 1 1/2 inch, it's totally engaged. It makes for quick shifts when I'm driving fast, but for the around town drives with my wife, it's kinda jerky... maybe I just need to get used to driving a stick again.

Should've gone with the OEM clutch from the 1973 240z, works like a dream for light mods.
