my raw knock data on both of my cars was above 150. i don't think apex knows how to tap into the knock sensor or not...
Actually it works great, Apexi just does a crappy job of relaying info to you about the readout scale. My personal opinion is b/c they don't want to be liable by telling you your engine is same at certain knock levels.
1. Make sure you have no exhaust leaks or other noises that can throw out some false noise readings. Remember the knock sensor is basically a microphone2. Calibrate it! Follow their procedures on a warm engine on a day of average temp (not too hot or cold)3. Understand that some backgrond noise is normal. My calibrated knock sensor readout will get as high as 40 or so just idling on a hot day.4. Audible knock is heard around 175-200. I learned this the hard way - no damage done thoguh. My peak knock was 230!!! 5. I try to keep it tuned so that it is less than 100 under WOT and boost.
Hope this helps!!
