I just installed my SAFC II into my car and Im setting it up so I can install the knock signal wire. So anyone that has done this setup knows that in order to hook up the little purple wire(knock signal) you need the RPM signal to work as well.

I cant get a signal. Im pulling the signal from Pin 7. The SAFC is at 0 RPM. I checked I have .2 ohms from the ECU at pin 7 to the SAFC at the internal connector.

Whats the deal?

you need a dakota digital tach adapter box in order to pick up a signal

I have my SAFC II installed on my RB25DET Series 1 and I get a perfect tach reading on the SAFC. I know its right because I compared it to the tach readings I got with the Apexi PowerFC.

no you don't. safc should read rpm by itself.

maybe try swapping ecus?

Im running it off number 1 still.

Just a bit of info... My ECU works fine. I have a tach adapter converting the signal with no problem running my tach so the signal is there. So Pin 7 should be working. Im stumped on this one.

That is weird... Yea you are definately going to want to make sure the SAFC has an RPM signal. I would check the for continuity on the wire in the SAFC harness. If you can find someone with an SAFC you may want to swap with them as well just to make sure the SAFC isn't broken.

Also, the knock reading in the SAFC is nearly useless.

i had the tach wire spliced off my rb26 r32 ecu and hooked up my neo and it would never pick up a yach signal, installed a dakota digital box to the same wire then back to the neo and had a signal,
