It's the closest to a full standalone without ripping and gutting your car's wiring out to install it. Also it features programmability which many others don't have. *cough* JWT *cough* If I had the money, I'd get it. I do have plans to get the Power FC when I get my Project Silvia started.

I don't know much about the Power FC, but can you change out your sensors for more accurate readings/tunings? Or does it only use stock sensors?

Thanks in advance.:)

yes it uses the stock sensors of the car and can actually tell you if they are malfuntioning

So there aren't any sensors available for it? Like if I wanted to change to a MAP...

You can also rewire the regular Power FC (forgot where i read this) and mate the wires from the MAP sensor and have them actually work. Still got to calibrate the thing though. Personally, factory sensors sound decent enough to me. It is not like I will be on the track all day and night, so its well suited for the street type people with average horsepower goals.

I plan on running a power FC when I do my SR swap. It seams to be the best thing out there without rewiring and going standalone.

I just installed a Power FC and I love it. The Power FC is actually For the Redtop Moter and I have a Black Top no difference in the engine except the O2 Sensor is bigger on the Blacktop. I recommend getting the Power FC that has the Map sensor as an option. No more MAF that is so much better. A map sensor is a device that is used in the RX7 FD3s it eliminates the need for an airflow meter. Which is a very nice luxury. You can run your engine without the intercooler piping with a Map sensor. Anyway except for a few bugs to work out the Power FC is the Shiznit. Don't forget the option for thye Boost Solenoid. It is far better than the SAFC and AVC-R. Let me know if yoou need help with setting it up. Don't forget you should buy an A/F Monitor to use when tuning the Power FC.

heh, our big problem in the states is that it can only be sold and tuned by an authorized power fc dealer, and there really arent that many of them around, maybe 5 in the country...of course adjustments can be made by the commander, but for a full dyno tuning it has to be done by an authorized facility, and thats unfortunate for some.

actually a twist in fate will come of the power fc. It might become almost as popular as it is to the RX-7s.

The ability to datalog the power fc is on its way to the SR20s, testing is this month. Also, it can adjust all parameters just as the Power Excel can. To add, the king of all mods to this datalog device is the ability to put 4 extra inputs to datalog! What is popular with the RX-7 datalogit+power fc is the good ol WIDE BAND O2 Sensor!

Instead of mounting the commander onto my dash, might be a laptop instead LOL!

A MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) is a sensor that is mounted into the intake manifold to messure air pressure and weight instead of flow. This eliminates the need for an airflow meter (MAFS). A MAP sensor has great response and ease of tuning compared to a MAFS. Also, a MAFS can't report in full, how much air the engine is going to intake -- just a rough estimate. Also, MAFS max out easily unless they are rediculously large, whereas a MAP sensor is just a tiny input device much like an oxygen sensor but calibrated to measure air pressure.

Well explained ItzGenX. The Power FC is a little bit of pain in the arse to tune which is why a datalog would be great. I am still a little rich at idle (Actually a lot rich) I am also still getting a bad boost cut which I am going to a shop who knows how to fix it.
