Whats up looking for anyone out there using a Apex turbo or know of any cars running them, I am trying to find some info like are they bolt on like a t28 or do they have a different manifold? Exhaust housing looks the same but just trying to make sure before I go off and buy it. Thanks

You're not look at this one on ebay are you?

If I were you though I'd try looking up that turbo kit listed on Apexi's website or try contacting them directly to see what they can tell you about it.

The guy knows nothing about the history of the turbo or even who rebuilt the turbo. I'd approach that one with caution.

The A'PEX IHI ball bearing turbos are not easily rebuildable, replacement parts are next to impossible to find. But they are tough.I would find out the spec on the turbine side. The "AX53" is the class, the "B70" is the compressor size (bigger than the B60), and the turbine should have a size rating as well. It will start with a "P" (P18, P20, P25). The highest it goes for the A'pex AX53 series is P25. The AX53B70 with a P25 turbine housing would be the largest AX53 series turbo A'PEX offers. The next step larger would be an RX6 but then your getting into external wastegate territory. I am running an AX53B70 P25 and making 300whp with no real tuning (Power FC). When I tune I hope to see around 340 on pump @ 1.2 bar. The turbo should support high 3's to 400whp provided you have the engine and octane to make it.A'PEX offers AX53's that will bolt to your stock manifold.

Hope that helps.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM BOOST THE AX53B70-P25 CAN SUSTAIN?

I CAN'T FIND ANY MAPS... BUT SOME OF THE SKYLINE GUYS SAY THE TURBO CAN HANDLE 1.6 BAR WITH NO ISSUES (WHICH WOULD BE 400+ HP)

I wouldnt take it above around 1.5-1.6.

However, A'PEX does offer a "race" version which is good up to around 1.8-1.9.

Hope that helps.

Final numbers came out to:

340 whp306 torque

At 1.2 bar (17.6 psi) with 91 octane. The turbo really comes alive at around 3500 RPM and reaches full boost by 4000. Im pretty impressed with the turbo so far. Should be good for at least 350-360 at 1.4 on 91. I would put it somewhere around 400 on race gas and 1.5 bar (22 psi).
