I have an Apex N1 exhaust. It's from the cat on back. 3 inch mandrel bent piping. I understand the whole concept of backpressure and piping size, but does any one have the Apex N1 on their n/a KA. Is there a noticeable loss in low end power and how's the sound? I don't want to be heard from 2 miles away. Planning to go SR in a few months anyways, but I'd like to know how it is on the KA.

theres no loss in power, and if yours has the resonator on the catback as well, then its not terribly loud until you get on it.

I have the apexi n1 duals on my auto n/a KA. I don't really feel any loss in the low end, but once my car reaches around 2.5-3k it hauls ***. I wish I had a manual so I could really hear and feel tehhh power of my dualies.

I have a N1 dual, no loss of power for me either... and I personally think it sounds as deep as our '01 vette did at idle (so you can compare) but it only sounds like that at about 3-5 rpm. at idle it doesn't have the greatest sound, but it isn't all that bad.

backpressure does not indicate a torque loss. exhaust velocity has to be half way decent in a n/a set-up to get a good scavenging effect. the key is to find the happy mediam in between small enough for high velocity and big enough to flow well. as long as your using a stock system from the ports to the cat your torque will not suffer.

I am currently thinking of getting a Apex N1 exhaust on my ka and was wondering if you could give us a sound clip. Ive been told that it sounds kinda high pitched but i love the look. Sorry to jack your thread...

it doesn't sound high pitched like a Honda or something, it's much deeper than that.

my brother has the apexi n1. he first got it to put on his 91 hatch with an at. it's DEFINATELY loud if you run a straightpipe as well. the ka24des KAs actually respond extremely well to new exhaust systems. the only downside is that if you have an at, no matter what you do, you cant really get any power out of new parts -.- (91 ka24de at with the apexi n1, new crank pulley, and a bunch of other simple bolt ons...... and amazing 110 to the wheels) . but be prepared for cops if they hear you getting on it, its LOUD......sounds like sex on wheels, mmmmm.

If u guys want to hear a sound clip of the N1 duals... I believe Streetfire.net has a clip or two. They sound awesome, nice and deep. They sound better than anyother exhaust ive heard of so far.

I just hate how it is loud inside the car. My brothers Evo has a louder exhaust outside the car, but inside it is not bad. I am thinking about going back to stock. The look is good, but the noise is bad.

I have this exhaust, I love it. I dont feel any loss of power and I dont know what this stuff is about it being loud. Its a 3 inch aftermarket exhaust, it will make some sound, but its not LOUD. My friend has a civic with a similar exhaust. when we ride next to each other he drowns me out completely. The exhaust note is good. Very low and rumbly, and smooth if you run a catalytic converter. The only thing I have a problem with is when I am inside of the car and speaking, the noise from the exhaust cancels my voice, kinda. Its not the volume so much but the frequency. If you want a sound clip give me a call and I'll play it for you.

I put a video on my myspace of my exhaust which has that exhaust if you want to hear what it sounds like.

its a pacesetter header, 2.5" downpipe, gutted cat, 3" apexi N1 evo catback.

its myspace.com/cuscodrift

its right underneath the top picture on the left, click videos and it should be there. But it might take a while to be accepted because they have to review it, and I just uploaded it.

3" APEXi N1 FTW!! No Power loss on the low end and relatively quiet until after 4000rpms.

cops pull people over for how it looks. ive tailed him and heard nothing when his car boosts (sr swapped). but police still tend to say its too loud. i took his car down a hill, saw a cop, rolled by in neutral. the cop busted a u turn and put on his lights and said he pulled me over because it shook his mirrors....bleh. good for boosted apllications. an invite for harrassment on n/a ka's.

Ok I have a quick question, kind of off topic. But I always thought about this, I have recently started welding and playing around with making different things. I have access to pipe bender, and normal 3in and even 3.5in exhaust piping. Is it really that big of a difference if let’s saying putting the exhaust together you’re self and doing all the welding of the flanges, and let’s say I even used the exact same bends as the N1? I mean other then like 400 bucks I really don’t see why a custom made one would be much worse then one made by a manufacture and having them charge you an ARM and a leg hehe. Just a thought because I rather just make one my self, and be able to tell people yah this is a custom exhaust made by me hehe and it only cost me 50 bucks :-p
