Apex'i Exhaust Control Valve

anyone have any experience with it here? i'm very interested in this product because it would be an interesting piece to have for a california car (dB level laws n such).

would anyone recommend it?

Do you really want a valve that restricts the exhuast? I'd rather have a removable silencer stuck in the tailpipe, than some valve that I wouldn't know the angle or amount of restriction it causes. This isn't tune by ear, and the idea is to free the exhaust from restriction, not create it.

Other than this item, I like everything Phase2 sells!

160 seems expensive. i was thinking of building one from a throttle body, and the butterfly valves on the intake manifold. it would close uder vacuum and be wide open when you open the throttle up. i decided to use a resonator instead though

I had one in the last Skyline, it works from a sound perspective. However the exhuast spins on it's way out and the butterfly valve would screw up the flow creating turbulance and cause restriction even when fully open. I wouldn't use it for that reason.

yea you should always consider a resonator if you want quite... The removable silencer is ok but you are restricting the exhaust flow after all...
