I have had the AP Racing BBK for about 18 months. I had a major squeeking noise when barely stopping at traffic light, stop sign etc. I purchased diff brake brads, Forrodo, and now i am still getting some squeeking. What is the issue?

Thanks and Merry Christmas Mike

I have AP BBK's on the front and rear of my car. I was having the same noise issues. I spoke to Kyle from Stillen and he said that it's do to the aggresive pads. He advised me that I wouldn't have this problem if I went with a less aggressive pad, but they would not hold up to as much heat as the ones I have on. So I said I'd just live with the noise and have a better performing pad. When I got my BBK's done at Stillen I told them that I wanted the best of the best of everything and that's exactly what I got. I forgot what degrees the pads I have on my car with withstand, but when he told me I was like .

Ricky,

Thanks I have the same aggresive pads you have from stillen. I too have teh AP BBK all around and called stillen and asked for a less aggressive. Yet, i am still getting some squeeking. I appreciate the advice i will learn to live with it .

I am working on engine mods now as I finished all the rest. I WAS going to boost but am VERY skeptical with regards to engine max capacity and maintanance. Any word in that area is welcome.

Thanks Mike

Well dude that's the price we have to pay for performance right. I mean if we're ganna be driving fast then we better have some brakes that will stop us as fast you know what I'm saying.

Well the max capacity of the engine with stock internals is 400HP safe. Anything more then that and you're asking for problems. Maintanance of the car is not that much different. You just have to us premium gas and change the oil every 2.5 - 3K miles. Tim said that he can do my whole bottom and top end of my engine to hold way more than 400HP. It is going to cost me more then 12G's, but at this point I'm thinking if I get a new car the beggining to mid of next year which I'll be dropping 100-500 G's because it will be from a Ferrari, Lambo, Rolce Royce, or SLR why drop 12 G's into the A/C besides the money I've been putting into it since May of this year till now. It's not going anywhere though. I'm not selling it anytime soon.

I see 400 HP is more than enough for me. I am not really wanting any more than 350. On that note us military folks aint making much "change" as it is, so its a slow steady process. Im in Houston so im gonna see if i can stop by turbonetics and see what i can find out. Thanks for the heads up though.

Ricky,

I see ur running 9psi? What did you add on or beef up aside from the transmission cooler to prevent your CVT from hittin the dust? ie. Blake's turbo'd coupe.

Well I had problems with my transmission twice at 9 psi. I was running 7psi most of the time and 9psi when I felt like running the car. First time it was the pressure control celonoid and the second it was the torque converter. I'm having Tim from Speed Force Racing work on the transmission to beef it up. He said it's going to withstand more HP as well as psi. What he's beefing up I'm not sure about to be honest.

Yeah I had this problem as well and it's due to a "glazing" that forms on the surface of the pad due to normal driving. The aggressive brake pads that comes with the AP BBK are meant for. well. aggressive driving driving like on a race track. However to cure this problem follow these steps.

- Find yourself a back road that's straight, one that you can get to about 50 to 60 mph.

-MAKE SURE THERE IS NO COPS AROUND!!!

- drive down it until you get to 50 or 60 and then slam on the brakes.

- Repeat about 3 4 times.

This will burn off that glazing and you'll get no more squealing when you're coming to a stop.

if i'm not mistaken that's the bedding in procedure, but you might also want to mention that when you slam on the breaks from 50-60 mhp, to not come to a complete stop and cruise for a minute or so to cool down the brakes.

Dangeris,

Thanks i am going to do this sometime this week. Its wierd b/c it sounds extremely loud when im barely stopping, like at a red light. Being that im in the military every time i go to the gate and it squeeks loud the gaurds are like . I changed the pads with some Forrodo, which Stillen mentioned were "LESS" aggressive. It hasnt worked. Ill post on here my results. With that being said, do you have a shimmy on yours at about 20-30?

Thanks Mike

Dangeris,

This didnt work. In fact, i think it made it louder. Any help, the noise is getting to me.

I changed the pads stillen said would work and did the 50 mph brake x 4. I also did it in reverse and noticed it stopped for a short while. I am assuming it is coming from the rear pads. This is a mayor assumption as i am not very well educated in this matter.

ThanksMike
